Simanye Trust
Simanye has set up a Trust to maximise B-BBEE
effectiveness. The Trust’s mission is to develop and
implement sustainable, nation-wide and holistic
solutions for communities, businesses and
individuals in order to develop skills and businesses
in a way that addresses the root causes of major
challenges facing South Africa. We aim to do this
through a focus on innovative social business
models – which are businesses that generate a
profit and are thus self-sustaining in the long term
which also provide invaluable social impact.
The Trust pools funds from our donors in exchange
for B-BBEE points as part of South Africa’s
empowerment and transformation policies and turns
the funding that typically be wasted on one-off
unsustainable initiatives, into a pooled effort to
create real change in the country.
Economic Development
Our Economic Development is holistic, asset based community
development that functions at a grass roots level, including
development for extractive and renewable energy communities. We
handle all aspects of Economic Development, including SLPs,
integration of CSI and SED strategies, skills development & jobs
creation, social entrepreneurship initiatives design and support, use of
micro-franchising models and emerging farmer development along with
other things.
