Work Placement
Participants undertaking the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care must complete a
mandatory 120 hours work placement working with children 0-5 years in age. We require the
following hours as a minimum:

thirty (30) hours working with infants (i.e. 0-2 year olds);

thirty (30) hours working with toddlers (i.e. 2-3 year olds); plus

sixty (60) hours working with pre-schoolers (i.e. 3-5 year olds);
Participants are required to research and source a children’s service/s for work placement. The
children’s services must be a regulated education and care service. This includes most long day
care, preschools, occasional care and mobile services. We recommend that participants are
employed in a children’s service. Work placement can take place in your own workplace, providing
the workplace meets the above conditions (including ages of children attending).
CCCCNSW will provide a structured learning plan to the participant and workplace supervisor
indicating the purpose of the placement and the assessment requirements. You will be visited
within your setting by your Assessor.
Completion Time
CCCCNSW creates programs estimating that participants complete the program within 12 months.
CCCCNSW will work with the individual to create an individualised training plan according to
individual circumstances. Please be aware that your trainee contract will specify the time available
for completion of this course. If you have not completed by the specified completion date,
CCCCNSW will discontinue providing training and assessment services from that date. For
completion, you may then be liable for additional fees.
