WELCOME PROGRAMME 2015 In 1988 some local Morpeth businesses joined together to establish a small jazz festival for the bicentenary year. The jazz festival soon acquired a life of its own and by 2000 had developed into a major event. By 2004 it had become too difficult logistically and the crippling costs of insurance made such a street festival unmanageable and the event closed. FRIDAY 15TH MAY 7.00 for 7.30 pm Dinner Dance St James Anglican New Orleans Quartet $40 pp for three-course meal and complimentary champagne on arrival. Other drinks - BYO WHAT IS CHAPELJAZZ? In 2009, the Catholic, Anglican and Uniting churches joined together to present ChapelJazz and bring traditional jazz back to Morpeth. All the music is played at the churches, historic Closebourne House and the two local pubs. WHY? The aim of ChapelJazz is to present traditional jazz in a welcoming environment to jazz lovers and their families and provide an enjoyable community experience. WHAT DOES IT COST? With exception of the Friday night Dinner Dance it is FREE. We do, however, need to cover our costs and so we are sincerely grateful to our sponsors. We ask you to patronise our sponsors, and buy raffle tickets, tea, coffee and refreshments at the venues to help keep this a free event.
