newsletter/at assembly workshops.
Upcoming Parent Ed: n/a
Suggestions: none
5. Fundraising
To organize fundraising activities for school projects and resources that would not
otherwise be financed.
Fundraising Guidelines: P&F fundraising initiatives involve the broader community
so as not to rely on our small school community. Each initiative is linked to a visible
outcome and pre-promoted whilst in progress; this engenders support and
motivates the parent body to participate.
P&F Finances: clarify with SK whether P&F is allocated funds from annual takings.
Market stall record
Market Stall: Cate/Kate
- Sales drop without coffee machine? No, revenue with/without is same due
to outgoings incurred for machine operation (barista, product, milks,
maintenance etc). Expense does not justify purchase of commercial
machine @$3000. Approx $200 profit per stall. Atmosphere of stall 6-10
years ago was buzzing. Need for other products: tea towels, table cloths,
parent products (cds, craft etc). Need for a clear market stall vols
procedures document.
- Roberto (Mayan Coffee) kindly donates a number of products: panela
(rapadura sugar), wet chai, coffee and hot chocolate.
- Amanda’s vision: Consider excellent location, good thoroughfare yet we are
not catching new customers!. Rejig layout, improve presentation and
signage.
- Discussion: Focus on teas, ensure vols follow same procesdures, ensure
consistency of product/service, chai stall/tent esp for busy months (who
would make chai?), steiner aesthetic, face painting, class display board,
soups and rolls for winter, larger teapots, aprons, set list of recipes. Who
owns space next to stall?
- Could marketing committee be involved in visioning esp considering opp for
outreach/promoting school, esp at busier markets. EC outreach, storytelling.

To implement communication initiatives to encourage and direct parent volunteers.
Reminder: The P&F mission statement has been updated to clarify the role that the
p&f is to serve in improving communication between the parent body and the
school.
This body welcomes parent interaction and feedback but should not be utilized for
individual parent concerns. Rather parents are redirected to the appropriate
sequence within the school ie 1. Class Teacher, 2. Management, 3. Board (within
which parent representation exists).
This may or may not involve writing a formal letter to the school.
For quick and best response it is always helpful to put issues in writing to the
school.
Newsletter Gratitudes: KF re wreath
Newsletter updates: Amanda re Craft Group
Emerge: P&F vol profile candidate, article content: Tali
Parent Vols: There is a need to reenergize Parent Vols. P&F Class reps to liase w

(who will create this?), P&F Rep to speak at Class meetings, where possible.
→ Tali: circulate Calendar of Events
→ All: Liase w CC to recruit Parent Vols, talk to Class Teacher re speaking at
Class Meetings.
7. Feedback
To provide a forum in which informal parent feedback can be offered to, or sought
by, the school.
Note: Whilst this body welcomes parent interaction and feedback, parents are
encouraged to take individual concerns regarding educational or operational
matters to the appropriate sequence within the school ie 1. Class Teacher, 2.
Management, 3. Board.
Feedback to School:
Anzac Wreath: The P&F seeks clarification of the school’s position in regards to the
school’s non-participation in the Anzac Day Wreath laying ceremony. As you would
be aware, this year the P&F participated in the ceremony, with a wreath created by
a parent volunteer, on behalf of the parent community.
Over the years there have been a number of parents who have approached the
school in regards to the school’s non-participation. The P&F feel that it is an
important to participate in an event that is of significance to families in our
community and in the wider community.
P&F Minutes April 2015 3 The P&F seeks clarification of the school’s position in regards to the school’s nonparticipation in the Anzac Day Wreath laying ceremony and again invites the school
to support this important event.
Parent Vols: concern that there is no New Parent Handbook being issued. Need for
management to ensure parents understand culture of the school, esp around
volunteering and minimum expectations of bake or serve in annual class market
stall. Suggest to school to be more proactive in acknowledging volunteer
contributions.
Feedback to Board: Anzac Wreath and Vols Thankyou M. Tea
8. Other
Business
→ Tali to forward Feedback on behalf of P&F

Monique Buggy (Jarrakai @MS, Isis @Class 2). New member docs available: P&F
Vision Statement, Initiatives list, Calendar of school events, P&F Contacts. Tali to
forward to new members.
New Initiatives:
Amanda Fairbanks – cultural enrichment at CS - adjourned
Kellie Small – Indigenous Cultural Awareness and Enrichment, High School library
and facilities
Kellie is concerned about access to good literature and amenities for High School
students, especially girls. There is currently 1 toilet for boys and 1 for girls on this
level, and no sanitary bin was available at end of 2014. Children on this level have
expressed to parents that the toilets are often unsanitary and unfit for use. Kellie
would like to see improvements in this area, and in the ambience and literary
offerings of the HS library.
Discussion: Lack of sanitary bin for girls experiencing first menstruation is
unacceptable. The P&F supports Kellie’s concerns and encourages her to take
steps to engage with the school management.
Monique Buggy – Indigenous language program
Karlee Brown – Resourcing & school community awareness re children w additional needs
Discussion: We acknowledge and express our support for the work of Karlee and family in
breaking new ground for students with additional needs at Chrysalis. It is sad that the
geography of the school can make it difficult for some students to attend. Also difficult for
teachers/parents with physical needs/prams. Needs: A sealed road to hall, ramp path
throughout school. Does disability access get addressed when school undergoes
accreditation process?
Sammi Cambray – Revisioning Culture of festivals, stall revamp etc.
Sammi is keen to be involved as per her energy and availability considering she is
expecting her 4th baby shortly! Sammi is curious about the rights and
responsibilities of Association Members.
2015 P&F responsibilities: Tali to circulate
Board report: ???
→ Attend next Board Meeting: ???
→ Sammi: Clarify rights and responsibilities of Association Members.
