materials and found objects and placed on
almost any surface, making it versatile, practical and fun. This class will focus on working with broken household ceramics and
tile (pique assiette) to create a decorative
frame or trivet. The class will cover: methods of breaking or cutting ceramics, and
working with mastics and grouting. In the
first class you will apply your design and in

Learn how to extend your vegetable
harvest for year-round produce!
In this class, students will learn to use season extenders in the fall and winter to grow
vegetables all year long. You’ll learn which
plants do well during our mild, but usually
wet winters. We’ll discuss how to protect fall
planted crops from frost and snow for longer
harvests and how to use raised beds and
cold frames to warm the soil for a jumpstart
on planting the earliest spring crops. Suitable
fall crop starts will be available for sale at the
end of class for students ready to start their
Fall/Winter gardens! Class length 4 hours. BPP

RAIN GARDEN CLASS
Participants will learn about sustainable ways to manage and mitigate
storm water run-off by utilizing Low
Impact Development technologies. We will
discuss when rain gardens are appropriate to use and where, how are they sized,
and shaped, why are soils so important in
a rain garden and what are the suitable
plants? We will perform a simple soil test. In
the last part of the class we will talk about
actual installations, and long term maintenance. Taught by Zsofia Pasztor Certified

Please join the WSU Kitsap Extension Master
Gardeners on Mondays for a summer garden
program at the Raab Park Youth Garden
in Poulsbo (at the south corner of Caldart).
There will be garden activities, planting,
watering and a take-home project. Meet
at the Park on Mondays from 10:30 a.m. to
12:30 p.m. Groups of children must be accompanied by an adult. For groups over 15
please notify WSU Kitsap Extension 360-3377157. Learning activities are free Donations
of $1 per family are gladly accepted. http://
