THOUGHT FOR FOOD
-UPROOT THE STATUS QUO
INTRODUCTION:
Every day one billion people go to bed hungry; even more are malnourished. At the same
time, on the same planet, one billion people wake up fat and overfed. This
perverse imbalance has dire consequences for our already strained healthcare systems
and dwindling natural resources. With the world population poised to increase to 9 billion by
2050, we urgently need new solutions to ensure everyone in the world has access
to adequate, safe, and nutritious food.
Thought for Food was created with the realization that the issue of food security is too big
for any one person, institution, or organization to handle. It takes the creativity of the
leaders of tomorrow and the experience of established change-makers to join forces in
exciting new ways to forge a better future for 9 billion people. Thought for Food (TFF) is a
global community of students, entrepreneurs, mentors, professionals and leaders who are
driven by a desire to invigorate innovation and uproot the status quo.
PROBLEM STATEMENT:
"How do we feed 9 Billion people by 2050?"
Participants will have to come out with solutions to solve the problem of food security
prevailing in the world entailed by the question mentioned above. You have to come up with
an idea, be it an invention or use of pre-existing technology differently that can be useful to
develop means for future. Participants will present the idea to the judges through creative
use of their mind and stationary we provide. The idea should be novel, unique
be
feasible
in
present
and should
times.
GENERAL RULES:
1. Each team can have minimum 2 and maximum 3 members.
2. Multiple teams from the same college are allowed to participate for the event.
3. The teams must strictly follow all the rules failing to which will lead to their
disqualification.
4. Students from any discipline and any year can take part in the event.
5. The event will be conducted at IIT Roorkee during COGNIZANCE 2015 (27-29 March).
6. Participants should ensure that their presentation include all relevant figures, tables and
references.
7. The decision of the judges shall be final and binding.
REGISTRATION PROCEDURE
The registration shall be done through the Cognizance website.
Steps
1. Each Member needs to register on the website. This will generate a unique Cogni id, after
email verification.
2. The Team Leader (which you will select yourself) needs to login into the website through
his username and password.
3. The ‘‘Thought For Food” event, under the Centrestage events page, has the tab ‘Register’
to register the team for the event.
4. Enter the Cogni id of team leader and other members of the team.
5. This will generate your Team Id and a mail shall be sent to the mail id of team leader
about the registration.
