Jon-Luke has been matched with Ellen and Roger for the past eight years and during that time, he’s faced many challenges. But with their dedicated and compassionate mentoring, Jon-Luke is now a high school senior taking university-level classes with plans to attend college in 2012. Jon-Luke credits Ellen and Roger for his determination to complete school, his opportunity to have “big” dreams, and ambitions. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada Friends: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northern Nevada is proud to continue serving children in the Reno, Sparks, Carson City, Minden, and Gardnerville communities. In over ten years, we have reached out to thousands of children in need, ages 6 -19, who benefit from the generosity of volunteer mentors and the contributions of many individual donors, private foundations, and grant awards. We know from our local and national outcomes, that a stable, caring, adult can make a huge difference in the life of a child who yearns for inspiration, motivation, and compassion. Our agency is so fortunate to find and retain the commitment of Big Brothers and Big Sisters who carve out the time to provide the friendship and emotional support to children who might otherwise be alone in their efforts to succeed in school, in social relationships, and in their future endeavors.
