D2L Group Tools: Online Learning
Group work is an important component in an online course, as it facilitates peer-based,
interactive teaching and learning. Some benefits of participating in a group project are:




you have an opportunity to practice skills in a structured, professional situation
projects that are too large, or time-consuming, for one student can be tackled within a
group
special knowledge, experience, and skills are shared amongst peers
a broad array of diverse viewpoints or problem solutions are generated

Where is My Group Information?
Step 1: On the Red Navigation bar click Communication. From the dropdown menu, select
Groups.

Step 2: For group Membership, private Discussion Topic, and Email, see Figure 2.
Submit Group Assignment to Dropbox Folder
Step 1: In the Red Navigation Bar, click Assessments. Select Dropbox from the dropdown
menu.
Step 2: Click the Dropbox Folder for the group assignment that is due.

Step 3: Click Add a File
Step 4: Click Upload. Select the assignment from your computer files. Click Add.
Step 5: Click Submit.
NOTE: Only one submission is needed from each group
Self-Enroll in a Group
Step 1: On the Red Navigation bar click Communication. From the dropdown menu, select
Groups.

Step 2: Click Choose Group
Step 3: Choose your preferred group and click Select.
