37.5 hrs per week. Occasional weekend and evening work

As per contract
ROLE
1. To promote and be an advocate for use of the Library and Archives for learning, research and
enjoyment by a broad and diverse audience.
2. To ensure professional management of Conway Hall’s Library, Archives, Art and heritage Collections.
3. To provide senior management support to the Chief Executive Officer and take responsibility for the
development of Conway Hall’s learning and educational remit.
4. To formulate and implement a Learning Strategy and associated outreach programmes for Conway
Hall in fulfilment of the Society’s charitable Object.
KEY TASKS
Library and Collections management
1. To curate and manage Conway Hall’s Library, Archives and Collections to relevant professional
standards.
2. To work with the Chief Executive Officer and colleagues at Conway Hall and other partners to
promote access, use and enjoyment of the Library, Archives and Collections by a diverse public via all
appropriate media.
3. To ensure a greater online focus and presence for the Library, Archives and Collections.
4. To contribute Library, Archives and Collections-related input to Conway Hall exhibitions, events and
activities.
5. To manage and deliver a welcoming public enquiry services (on site and remotely) and assistance in
gaining access to appropriate materials and information in the Library, Archives and Collections.
6. To identify and acquire new resources in line with the Library Acquisitions Policy and the Archives
Policy.
Learning development
1. In consultation with colleagues and external partners to research and formulate a Learning Strategy for
Conway Hall for agreement by the Trustees.
2. In collaboration with colleagues within Conway Hall and external partners to devise and deliver a range
of learning and educational outreach programmes and courses to implement the Learning Strategy.
3. To initiate and sustain partnerships with educational bodies (schools, FE, HE) and teachers to develop
and be an advocate for the learning remit and resources of Conway Hall.
4. To work with colleagues and partners to produce innovative educational resources (eg resource packs,
online digital resources) based on the information and resources available at Conway Hall.
5. To initiate, promote and lead workshops, talks, seminars, visits and tours of the Library and Archives in
support of the learning outreach programmes.
Other
1. To train, manage and monitor volunteers working on the Library, Archives, Art and heritage
Collections. or the learning and outreach programmes.
2. To work with the Chief Executive Officer in developing fundraising projects and funding applications
in support of Conway Hall’s learning and education remit.
3. To comply with Conway Hall’s policies such as health and safety etc.
4. Any other reasonable duties as required by the Chief Executive Officer.
Person Specification
Essential Criteria

A recognised professional librarianship qualification.
Experience of cataloguing, managing, promoting and exploiting library resources
Experience of developing policy and strategy, and delivering creative services to a diverse public.
Experience of working with colleagues and partners to promote educational use of cultural
resources to a range of audiences.
Excellent written, verbal, presentational, digital and social media communication skills.
Proven organisational skills: ability to analyse, plan, prioritise, work to deadlines, produce results
and be an advocate for services.
Ability to work weekends and evenings as required.

9.30 – 17.00 5 days per week.
Pro rata 25 days per annum, plus one week over the
Christmas holiday period, (all based upon 37.5 hours per
week).
6 months
An optional stakeholder pension scheme is available.
