May 07, 2015 INDIAN INDICES MORNING BELL Index MARKETS AT A GLANCE Indian benchmark indices are likely to open on a negative note today, dragged down by weaker global cues. Asian stocks continue to take the south route in the early trade today due to weaker finish on Wall Street overnight and fears over tighter margin trading rules in China. Back home, the markets will react to the passing of the landmark GST bill in Lok Sabha. However, the bill is yet to be tabled in the upper house for select committee scrutiny. Meanwhile, the rising concerns over oil prices might drag the markets for another session. Along with Oil and Gas, FMCG and auto stocks might remain under pressure. Moreover, continued selling by the overseas investors might worsen the scenario. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) divested shares worth Rs 1,700 crore yesterday reaching the previous eight‐
day selling score to nearly Rs 9,000 crore. As per market experts, “certain large foreign investors sold heavily due to redemption pressure, in the wake of weaker investor appetite due to hardening of yields on government treasury bonds in the US and Europe.” On the earnings front, BASF, BlueDart, Hero Motocorp and Jindal Saw are a few prominent names that will release their earnings. 06/05/15 Pt Chg % Chg 26,717 (723) (2.6) 8,097 (228) (2.7) BSE MIDCAP 10,265 (348) (3.3) BSE SMALLCAP 10,830 (348) (3.1) CNX MIDCAP 12,554 (454) (3.5) BANK NIFTY 17,800 (672) (3.6) CG 15,992 (708) (4.2) REALTY 1,562 (66) (4.0) POWER 2,041 (78) (3.7) BSE SENSEX NSE NIFTY GLOBAL INDICES Index 06/05/15 Pt Chg % Chg 17,842 (86) (0.5) WALL STREET UPDATE DOW JONES U.S. stocks weakened in yesterday’s session after Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen surprised traders by cautioning of possible drawbacks for investors, referring to stock values as “quite high.” However, late surge in the buying activity contained losses to an endurable level. Yellen’s comments arose at a panel dialogue with the head of the International Monetary Fund, Christine Lagarde. On the economic front, the US jobs data added to worries; U.S. created 169,000 private‐sector jobs in April, down from 175,000 jobs that were created in March. The broader NSE index fell 2.74% or 227.80 points to close at 8097.00. On daily charts, Nifty has made a sizeable bearish candle with little or no shadows, indicating that bears were in sell mode right from the beginning. The index is expected to continue their bearish sentiments further, with any weakness below its major support of 8040. The index is struck in a continuation formation of ‘expanding triangle’ and 8040 is lower boundary of the triangle. However, possibility of quick short covering or sideways activity cannot be ruled out after steep fall. Suggested trading strategy would be to Sell if market resists at 8115 and Buy if it attains support at 8055.
