March 30, 2015 INDIAN INDICES MORNING BELL Index MARKETS AT A GLANCE The key Indian benchmark indices are likely to open on a positive note tracking firm cues from other Asian markets. Asian stocks are trading flat as gains from Wall Street are offsetting the impact of declining oil prices. Crude oil prices extend losses on concern that potential Iran nuclear deal could lead to excess supply. Back home, the market is expected to remain subdued on caution ahead of Eight Core Infrastructure Industries and fiscal deficit data, which is expected to due on Tuesday. Selling pressure to continue as a long holiday truncated week will force many domestic traders to book profit. Geopolitical concern in Middle East & upcoming Q4FY15 earnings season will keep the market volatile throughout the day. Trend in global markets, investment by foreign portfolio investors (FPIs), the movement of rupee against the dollar on suspected intervention by RBI, crude oil price movement will dictate trend on the bourses. On sectoral front, both cement and Auto stocks will be buzz ahead of monthly sales figures. The market recovered, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average adding 34.43 points, or 0.2%, to 17712.66. The S&P 500 edged up 4.87 points, or 0.2%, to 2061.02 and the Nasdaq Composite gained 27.86 points, or 0.6%, to 4891.22. Volatility continued throughout the day after Data on Friday showed the US economy slowed in the fourth quarter, with gross domestic product expanded at an annual rate of 2.2% in the fourth quarter, unchanged from its previous estimate last month, the Commerce Department said. But soon optimism spurred in the last 15 minutes of trading after the release of statement made by Federal Reserve Chairwoman Janet Yellen on monetary policy. Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen on Friday stated that gradual rate hikes are likely this year but stressed that the pace of tightening would be gradual and economic data‐dependent. The broader NSE index closed at 8341.10. On daily charts, Nifty has made bearish candle with long lower shadow, reflecting emergence of supportive buying from the lower boundary of falling channel. Further, index traded and closed below the bearish gap of 18 points (8517‐8499) opened on 26th March, indicating that medium term trend is negative, traders are advised to use every rise to create short positions. At the same time, momentum oscillator is languishing in oversold zone, suggesting that market can expect quick short covering or sideways activity. On the lower side, 8240, would now act as a major support. Suggested trading strategy would be to Sell if market resists at 8360 and Buy if it attains support at 8310. State Bank of Bikaner and Jaipur (SBBJ), an associate bank of State Bank of India, on Friday said it has raised Rs 200 crore through issuing Basel III compliant tier II Bonds to LIC of India. Mumbai‐based Indusind Bank Ltd on Friday said that it has allotted 1,06,119 equity shares on March 27, 2015 to the employees under its Employees Stock Option Scheme. These equity shares are having a face value of Rs 10 each, the company said in a statement. IT giant Infosys will give out pay hikes in the range of 6.5 per cent to 9 per cent to employees in India for the financial year 2015‐16, said the media report. ECONOMY NEWS The Government has decided to observe National Mourning on Sunday, March 29, 2015 as mark of respect to the Former Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew.“The National Flag will be flown at half‐mast throughout India and there will be no official entertainment on the day,” the Ministry of Home Affairs said in a statement. The Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today said that there is need to take steps to encourage people to use more and more accounted money and discourage the use of unaccounted currency.In this regard, the Finance Minister said that with the progress in the growth of economy, more and more people should be incentivized to use plastic money such as credit cards, Rupay cards and cheques or any other negotiable instrument.
