Ideas for Home Learning:
Week Commencing 20th April 2015
Dear Parents/Carers,
Please find below some ideas for guiding your child’s learning at home. Please encourage
your child to complete one or both of these activities, with your support.
In addition, we would love to hear from you about your child’s home learning; please use
the home learning diary to jot down your observations. Thank you.

This week, our story is called ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. In the story, the
caterpillar eats something different every day of the week.
• Keep a diary of the food you eat
every day. Use your letters and sounds
knowledge to write the words.
• Perhaps you could try some new
foods this week.
• Indicate which foods you like the
best with a smiley face.
The Very Hungry Caterpillar enjoys eating fruit and vegetables to keep healthy.
• What else can we do to keep ourselves healthy? Can you
talk with your family about the different ways they keep fit and
healthy?
• If they go to the gym or do a sport, could they show you
some of the exercises and perhaps you could try them out.
• It would be lovely if you could be photographed trying out
the exercises to show your class.
In maths this week we have been working on ‘halving’.
• With an adult’s help, could you try chopping different fruits and vegetables in half?
Does each half look exactly the same?
• Could you record your findings, for example, through drawings?
