Online Summer Reading Club FAQ - Franklin County Library System

Franklin County Library System’s Youth Online Summer Reading Club FAQs
1. How does the new online summer reading club work?
You can create an account which will allow you to track the number of minutes and books your children read
this summer. With each 150 minutes, up to 750 minutes total, your child will be able to get a prize at your
library. Also don’t forget to pick up a book bag after you register. You can register and start recording activity
on June 1st with the last day to log on August 15th. Check with your local library about what prizes are available
and when you can start collecting prizes.
2. Who can participate in the online summer reading club?
It is available for all ages; just make sure you register for the correct age group. We have a youth page for those
ages 0-12 (prizes every 150 minutes, up to 750 minutes total), a teen page for those ages 13-18 (prizes every 250
minutes, up to 1000 minutes total), and an adult page for those 19 and up (prizes for every 5 books you read, up
to 25 books total). Yet please feel free to create your own goals this summer, reading more than our set goals!
3. How do I register my family with multiple children?
You can register your family two ways.
1. Register yourself, the parent, and leave the participating check box unchecked. You can then register your
children, each with their own username and password. When you log in with the parent’s username and
password, you can enter activity for each child but will not see the activity log. To see the activity log, you
will need to log into each child’s account.
2. Register your first child as participating, checking the box next to the participating statement. You can then
continue to register each additional child afterwards. When you log in with the first child’s username and
password, you will see his/her account/activity and can log activity for all of your children. To see the other
children’s activity log, you will need to log in with the other usernames and password.
4. Can I register my children for programs through this site?
The online summer reading club is only for tracking the number of minutes and books read during the summer.
Contact your local library to get signed up for programs. You can see all that is happening in the libraries this
summer by going to www.fclspa.org/summerreadingbrochures
5. What is an achievement code?
Our libraries may set up special codes that will allow your child to get another badge (image) on his/her account.
It is a fun way to keep your child excited about reading this summer.
