Mothers’ Day/Special Persons’ Stall
THANKYOU once again to Megan Burges and her helpers for their efforts in preparing and running the Mother’s Day Stall
last Friday. It was huge success and by the smiles on the children’s faces very much appreciated.
Annual Reporting Meeting
‘Chris' thoroughly engaging talk had me reflecting as much on my own behaviour as that of my children.
A very enjoyable evening!
Thanks, Danny Mensingh’
Thanks for that Danny. Thankyou to Gurm Sekhon our School Council
President who spoke to the Annual Report itself prior to Chris Daicos’
dynamic presentation. Based on the feedback I have received, all
attendees were impressed with Chris’ ability to inform, engage and
entertain on a subject that was pertinent for parents and staff alike.
Despite the serious nature of the content Chris had us roaring with
laughter at times. What a fabulous opportunity it was. One which I’m
sure will prove more than useful to those that attended.
The night was well attended. Thankyou to all those families that came along and helped make
the night a success.

SCIENCE TALENT SEARCH 2015
LOST PROPERTY
The Science Talent Search (STS) is an annual,
science based competition open to all primary and
secondary students in Victoria, Australia. The STS
theme for 2015 is Science of Light. There will be a
meeting on Tuesday 19th May at the start of lunchtime in Evey’s room for interested students.
Given the blast of winter weather lost property is
now overflowing with jumpers and jackets which get
shed as children warm up during the day. It seems
that given the sudden cold snap that many families
have not had a chance to label their winter clothing.
Please either use an iron-on label or alternately a pen
or better still laundry marker to write your child's
name on the label. All labelled items are returned
through the front office to their owners.
Please visit
http://www.sciencevictoria.com.au/sts/forStudentPa

EYT BAND FUN
EYT Band is a fun program where students, selected
for their skills at playing certain instruments, get to
play together in a contemporary ensemble. At the
end of the term, we will be going to School of Rock
to perform for several other schools and teachers.
We will be going with the EYT choir as well, and will
perform 1 of our 2 songs with them, ‘Hold Back the
River’. We are also playing ‘Cool Kids’. The Band
consists of three singers, two guitarists, a
keyboardist, a bassist and a drummer. Together, we
form the Summersaulting Pebbles!

SIGNING CHILDREN IN AND OUT:
Just a reminder that children must be signed into morning care by an
adult, Please do not drop your children off at the gate. It is a legal
requirement that they be signed in. If you are unable to sign your child
in, you MUST give prior written authorisation for OSHC staff to sign
your child in on your behalf. This also applies to aftercare, if you are
unable to sign them out we cannot just let them walk home or go with
an older child, if that older child is under 18 we MUST receive prior
written authorisation. If you have further questions regarding this
please contact us on 9482 4273 or shoot us an email.
PREP AND GRADE 1 BAGS NOW IN THE HALL NOT FOYER:
So that we can better supervise the younger children the Preps and
Grade 1 children must now leave their bags inside the hall NOT in the
foyer on hooks. We were finding that the younger children constantly
need to go to their bags and by having them in the hall we can
supervise them at all times. Grade 4, 5 and 6 children can now leave
their bags on the hooks in the foyer.
Thank you.

Wednesday 27th May at 11am children across the country will be
enjoying the same book in the 15th Annual National Simultaneous
Storytime. This event aims to encourage more young Australians to
read and enjoy books as well as promoting the value of literacy using
an Australian children’s book. In 2015 the book is The Brothers
Quibble by Aaron Blabey.
Yarra libraries is very excited to be involved in this wonderful event by hosting a storytime in the Darling
Gardens from 10:30am – 11:30am including of course the reading of The Brothers Quibble at exactly
11am.
We would love it if your younger classes could join us for this event. We would be happy for the children
to bring a snack and enjoy their recess while listening to our fun and engaging storytime.
Please RSVP your attendance to this event to either Lizzie or Bridget by Wednesday 20th May. We hope
