Thanks must also be extended to their Grade 6 buddies and indeed all school teaching and support staff. Everyone is excited by the arrival of our new preppies and anxious that their transition to school is as smooth as possible. There is a huge team effort to ensure we are all mindful to be on the lookout for the little ones. Are they happy? Are they looking for a friend in this “very big” yard? Is that a trembling bottom lip I see? I’m happy to report that with watchful eyes everywhere the Preppies seem to be more than happy and very settledif a little worn out. We look forward to a fabulous year for them all. PLEASE SEE INSIDE FOR IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE DISABLED PARKING SPACE & THE AVAILABILITY OF PAYMENT PLANS FOR THOSE FAMILIES THAT REQUIRE THEM. We would like to emphasise the importance of SAFETY FOR YOUR CHILDREN at drop-off and pick-up times. Please be aware that: Parents are reminded that the Department does not provide personal accident insurance for students. Parents and guardians are responsible for paying the 1. You are not allowed to turn right from Alfred Crescent into Fergie St between the hours of 8:30 am to 9:30 am, and 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. 2. You are not allowed to double park or to park across laneways (even for a short time). 3. Disabled Parking is for eligible people ONLY The safety of your children is our main concern. PLEASE PARK SAFELY (and walk a short distance to school, if necessary). PAYMENTS FOR 2015 Family accounts will be sent home monthly. Due to high banking costs our preferred payment option is BPAY. Look out for your family BPAY code on your next invoice/statement, alternatively please contact the school office. Essential Student Items levy is due by March. If you are having financial difficulty in paying your account in full at any time, we can assist. Please contact Michelle Westlake to chat about this option and set up a payment plan (regular partial payments). This can be discussed over the phone/ or in person. Payment plans are set up to pay smaller amounts on a regular basis to pay off your account. This will cover all costs like swimming / camp / excursions and levies. One last thing, Please support the school by providing an email address for transmitting accounts electronically, this saves time and money. If you receive this months statement via your child please email the school [email protected] to confirm we can use your address for sending out future invoice/statements. Thanking you Mich Westlake cost of medical treatment for injured students, including any transport costs. These costs may be recoverable where an injury is caused by the negligence (carelessness) of the Department, a school council or their employees or volunteers. Student accident insurance policies are available from some commercial insurers. These cover a range of medical expenses not covered by Medicare or private health insurance. PERSONAL PROPERTY INSURANCE Personal property is often brought to school by students, staff and visitors. This can include mobile phones, calculators, toys and sporting equipment. The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development does not hold insurance for personal property brought to schools and it has no capacity to pay for any loss or damage to such property. Students are discouraged from bringing any unnecessary or particularly valuable items to school. EDUCATION MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE From 1 January 2015, the government will provide extra financial support directly to Victoria’s neediest schools instead of providing the Education Maintenance Allowance directly to parents. Parents will not be able to apply for the Education Maintenance Allowance in 2015. The money will be allocated to eligible schools through schools’ core operational funding mechanism, with the neediest schools receiving the most funding. Not all schools will be receiving funding in 2015. This change to how the money is distributed was required by the funding agreement with Commonwealth government to make sure Victorian schools receive increased funding that will benefit all students and, in particular, those from schools with concentrated disadvantage. Because our funding relies on the correct parent employment data being entered onto our system we will be sending home a Data Collection Form that we would like you to complete and return to the office by February 13th. We know that a parent’s occupation status changes – we just need to have our records updated!
