South College Road, Wilmington NC
MEETING MINUTES September 10th 2013
Call to Order: Tony Caracciolo called the meeting to order at 6:32pm and welcomed 51
members and guests. All 2013 officers were present.
Minutes: The August meeting minutes as printed in the newsletter and as posted on the
website were approved without any additions or corrections.
Financial Report: The August CFC financial status was reported by Greg Stanley. The club is
on sound financial ground and the 50/50 charity fund raffle is doing well. We have a record
number of pre-registrations (39) for the upcoming corvette show
Membership status: As of August 31st we have 91 members: 81 Full, 10 Associate.
National Corvette Museum:
Don spoke about his trip to Corvettes at Carlisle as well as some stops at Bourbon Distilleries
and there was some sort of Corvette/Bourbon mishap along the way to the anniversary
celebration at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green. Don has raffle tickets for a 2014
coupe so if you’re interested see him for a ticket. The complete report with details can be found
in the newsletter.
John Fort and Don spoke about the NCM Motorsports Park and the possibility of the club
coming together to purchase one acre in support of the Park. It was decided the officers would
meet with John and Don to develop a plan to take to the membership at the next meeting for the
members to review and vote on. If you have any interest in supporting the Motorsports Park with
a financial donation please let one of the officers know of your interest.
Events Past and Future
We had six members attend Corvettes at Carlisle and Tony had his first taste of Corvettes at
Carlisle.
Cars & Coffee as well as our Judging training and cook out was this past Saturday and we had a
very large turnout, someone said we had over 30 corvettes show up plus Peter’s 5 and thanks to
Dave Theisen in the next garage with his 4 corvettes made for over 40 corvettes to see in one
place and it was quite a sight. A nice meal was enjoyed with salads and desserts provided by the
members and the car show judges all hopefully learned some new information to assist them at
the show on Saturday.
We have our corvette show this Sunday with a meet and greet Saturday night at Carrabba’s at
5:00 and an after party on Sunday at the Fox and Hound after we finish cleaning up.
The Myrtle Beach Corvette multi-club luncheon has been rescheduled for 11:30am Saturday,
October 26 at the brand new banquet room at the Brick Landing Golf Course in Ocean Isle
Beach. Additional details will be provided at the next CFC meeting.
CFC Corvette Show:
Gordon requested the members that volunteered to assist with parking and registration to arrive
at Gordon Chevrolet by 7:00am as member workers will be arriving starting at 7:00 and will
need direction to park and assistance to register there cars. All other member volunteers are
requested to arrive between 7:00 and 7:30 am and to come into Gordon Chevrolet by way of the
back gate located on Van Campen Blvd opposite the Holiday Inn
If you have walkie talkies please bring them.
We have been getting lots of good publicity about the show and will get more as Ellen will be on
the radio 3 time Friday morning (8:10 99.9, 8:20 107.5 , and 8:45 104.5) it was in the Encore
paper that came out today as well as on the Jeff Gordon Chevrolet website. The food bank
people also spent a great deal of time placing information about the show and a large number of
local events calendars.
PLEASE bring canned food or non-perishable food to the car show to support the local food
bank. Last year our donation to AARP the local food bank was able to provide 22,000 meals.
The National Corvette Museum store will also be in attendance again this year.
Saturday Meet and Greet:
There will also be a meet and greet Saturday night (9/14) at 5:00 on the porch at Carrabba’s
Italian Grill for the people traveling to the show from out of town and we need a good group of
CFC members to also attend.
CFC Social After the Show
After the show there will be a social at the Fox and Hound Grill in Mayfair for anyone interested
in attending. They will reserve tables in the pool room area and provide free appetizers.
Members are requested to wear a white club logo shirt and there name tag for the car show so
we can be recognized by the attendees as member of Cape Fear Corvettes
Up Coming CFC Events
Road Rally: Jim Rizzuti spoke about the road rally that will be on November 9th. This would be
a time/speed event. The course would be about 120 miles starting at Wal-Mart in Leland taking
about three hours with a check point along the way finishing at the Fishy Fishy Café
(fishyfishycafe.com in Southport. Cost will be $10 per car and you will need a navigator to assist
with the directions there will be space for 30 cars to participate in this event.
Special Ops Museum: Richard Fox spoke about plans for a trip to the Special Ops Museum in
Fayetteville in October. one question put to the membership was did we also want to include a
stop at East Coast Classic Car dealership and there did not seem to be interest in including that
so Richard will make plans to just attend the museum and the eat at a place called Cheddars
not far from the museum.
Classic Car Auction: there will be a Classic Car Auction in Greensboro on November 7-9 and for
placing a flyer for it in our newsletter the club will get 20 free tickets to attend the auction

Webmaster John Talatanian at [email protected]. so he may post it on our website. This
