Negotiating Female Reproductive
Health as an Adolescent Girl
in The Gambia, West Africa
with Mam-Yassin Sarr,
Founder, Starfish International
Starfish International recognizes the resiliency of
girls in The Gambia, West Africa, who face a host of
factors as they negotiate their reproductive health.
These include early marriage, teen pregnancy and
violence against women as well as building confidence and financial independence. Mam-Yassin Sarr,
a native Gambian, works to help girls learn the skills
they need to tackle these social and health issues.
