2015 Ford Golf Thursday Night League Rules
1. Have Fun
2. USGA Rules of Golf Apply (exceptions noted in this document)
3. Respect Glenwoodie League Requirements and local rules. Notable items listed below:
a. League Play is on a guaranteed basis unless the course is closed by management. League play will be allowed to
alternate nines each week.
b. The outing is responsible for adhering to the Glenwoodie dress code. Appropriate golf attire must be worn. Collared
shirts are required. No tank tops, tee shirts or cut-off jeans/shorts will be allowed. Glenwoodie also requires that all
golf shoes have non-metal spikes.
4. Format
a. 2 person handicapped teams - Best Ball Match Play (aka Beard-Hall Sandbagging Abatement Format).
i. Each team will have an ‘A’ and ‘B’ player determined by handicap. If teammates have the same handicap,
the lower score from the previous round(s) will determine the ‘A’ player. If unable to determine, coin flip.
ii. Each player will play their own ball
5. Scoring/Points
a. 10 points available per match, 20 points total (2 matches - ‘A’ player vs ‘A’ player, ‘B’ player vs ‘B’ player)
b. 1 point per hole, 1 point for overall match (1/2 point for ties)
c. Each player will have a gross score per hole and for the round recorded on the scorecard. Following the rules
below, also mark the match scores on the card.
d. Scores are determined by using the handicapped (net) score per hole/round
i. Scoring example below: Sam is a 12 handicap. Ken is a 6 handicap. Sam will get 6 strokes, 1 on each of
the 6 hardest holes (noted in yellow hi-lite). Net (handicapped) scores are used to determine points. The
example below shows Sam getting 3.5 points and Ken getting 6.5 points.
6. Handicapping
a. Handicapping will be calculated using the standard USGA format (rolling 5 rounds)
b. Handicaps will be calculated based on the following table:

7. Absenteeism/Substitutes
a. If unable to make any given Thursday night (including playoffs), an individual may play his/her round any time prior
to the night they will miss. Another league member must witness and co-sign the scorecard (this witness may not
be the individual’s partner).
b. Each team member is responsible for finding his/her own substitute if unable to play (a substitute list will be
provided). Anyone can substitute. The provided list is only a starting point...
c. If a team member cannot secure a substitute, $10 will be deducted from the initial $20 ‘ledger’ collected at the
beginning of the year. These funds will be added to the final prize pool. If a member is absent more than 2 nights,
the $10 penalty must be paid before 4pm on Thursday night. Refer to Good Standing rule if payment is not made.
i. Leftover absenteeism ‘ledger’ funds will be reimbursed on the final evening of play.
d. To score the evenings round, the absent person’s score will be his/her average MINUS 4 strokes. For
handicapping, the posted score for that night will be his/her average PLUS 4 strokes.
i. If no average is available, all points are forfeited for that night.
e. Substitutes are not allowed on playoff nights for teams in contention. If unable to post a score using item ‘a’ above,
refer to item ‘d’ above.
