The Four Things That Matter Most
Relationships provide the foundation of our personal, spiritual well-being. Stable, caring relationships help
us to face whatever life hands us. But difficult, rocky relationships can make all of life seem like a struggle.
We belong to a network of important connections that may include children, parents, siblings, friends,
spouses, neighbors, teachers and coworkers.
According to Ira Byock, director of palliative medicine at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, eleven simple
words – please forgive me, I forgive you, I love you and thank you – can help to heal or strengthen our relationships. In his book, The Four Things That Matter Most, Byock says: “A deep, natural drive to connect with
others lies at the heart of what it means to be human. By taking the time and by caring enough to express
forgiveness, gratitude, and affection, you can renew and revitalize your most precious connections.”
While our relationship with God gives us strength and hope, during spiritual low points we may also feel distant from, frightened of or angry at God. Our spiritual health depends on being able to express ourselves
with God. What would it mean to you and to your faith to say I love you, thank you, please forgive me and I
forgive you – to God and to others in your life?
Beginning June 28, a four-week sermon series will explore these four simple, powerful phrases and their
connection to our spiritual journeys.

Green Street Library
Save the date! The grand opening of the Green
Street United Methodist Church Library will be
Sunday, June 7th to co-inside with Christian Education Sunday. Come browse our shelves after
church and perhaps check out a book or two. We
have many to choose from. The response has
been great!! The library has no set times. We will
be using an honor system and ask that you simply
sign the books out and return them to the box on
the table by the door when you have finished. We
are always taking donations of more gently used
books to add to our collection. And if you have
read one of the books from our library, we would
appreciate a comment or two to advertise the
books for other readers. Thank you to everyone
who has contributed to make this dream a reality.

Service for Fay Scholz
There will be a Celebration of Life Service for Fay
Scholz on Saturday, June 6th at 11am at Green
Street. Please join us as we gather with her family
to remember Fay and her many years as a devoted Christian and a beloved member of our Green
Street Church family.
Please help yourself to the garden seeds in the
display case in the hallway outside of the sanctuary. Paul Doyon has generously donated these
seeds to the church. We will also be using these
seeds to plant a vegetable garden on the church
grounds to share with our neighbors this summer
for the Green Street Garden Give-A-Way.

Father’s Day of Fuel insert on June 21st. A Day of Fuel sponsorship is only $25.00. Fill out the form and
