Will there only be a few saved?” This is a hard question with a hard answer: “Enter by the narrow door for many will try and will not succeed.” The Lord came to save the “nations of every language,” each and every one of us, but even the Lord relies on our free response to the offer. So “hold up your limp arms and steady your trembling knees and smooth out the path you will tread” when following the lead of our Savior. There is hope—“those now last will be first.” Can you step out onto the way of the Lord? P ARIS H S TEWARDSHIP August 17th & 18th, 2013 Text, Philip J. Sandstrom, STD © 2000, OCP. SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION $CRIP PROGRAM Thank you for your interest in the Nativity Parish $crip Program. This program is an easy, “no cost” way for the parish to raise funds for the needs of the parish. You simply purchase store cards to places that you would normally shop at and the parish makes anywhere from 3% to 10% plus return from these stores. The money we make from these cards is given instantly to the parish every time you purchase a card. We keep many cards in stock, so stop in the Narthex before and after masses and support our $crip Program. $crip can also be purchased at the Parish Office during the week from 9:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation will begin with a meeting for parents only. Choose to attend Monday, September 9 or Tuesday, September 10 from 6:30-7:30 PM in Bona Hall. Preparation begins in grade 2, but all children are welcome into the program if not already prepared. Children must be enrolled in the Faith Formation program in addition to the sacrament preparation program. Please call or email us if you did not receive a letter or if you wish to sign up for the meeting or if you have questions about the process. Contact Andrea Sabor at 499-6012 or [email protected]. The week of August 12th-18th $crip sold $7,505.00 - Profit - $361.22—Thank you! ONE A WEEK BLOOD DONOR CLUB Want to learn more about the Catholic faith? Get more involved in service activities? Many moons ago in a far off place, lived a handsome prince with a gloomy face… for he could not find a bride. The Princess and the Pea is one of the best known fairy tales of all. You may think you know this time honored tale but let us tell you the real story in one of Broadway’s happiest shows and one of the most popular productions in our history. This show turns that well known fairy tale on its ear with the story of Princess Winifred of the swamps and Prince Dauntless the Drab and their up and down, inside-out love story. Naturally the course of true love never runs smoothly when you have a domineering mother, a conniving wizard, a mute king, and a court full of knights and ladies desperate to get married. Delightful music, beautiful period costumes, and knee-slapping, rib-tickling comedy will fill the theatre with happiness and joy. Get on the bus and enjoy a fabulous dinner and show at the Fireside in Fort Atkinson for $85.00. Call Vicki at Nativity Parish at 499-5156 for more details or to sign up. Have you sent in your favorite family recipe? As part of the celebration for the 50th Anniversary of Nativity of Our Lord Parish, we are very excited to be putting together a cookbook for the parish. We need your help to reach our goal of at least one recipe from each parishioner and staff member. The cookbook will be hardcover and professionally published. It will show the name of each contributor next to their recipe. Be sure to give your recipe a title. If you are submitting a recipe “In Memory of _______” please indicate that. All recipes must be turned in by September 30th, in order to meet our publishing deadlines. Turn them in to the Parish Office or email them to Cindy Randall at [email protected]. This personalized collection will be a treasured keepsake for the next 50 years! The cookbooks will be available in April, 2014. Bishop David Ricken of the Diocese of Green Bay has named Sunday, September 8th as Immigration Sunday and is inviting everyone to pray for a bill that will protect the lives and dignity of U.S. citizens as well as migrants. We especially pray for the protection and unification of all families. Now is the time to contact your representatives and urge them to support a just and humane immigration reform bill. Please ask your representative to support legislation which would: Provide a path to citizenship for undocumented persons living in the U.S.; Preserve and strengthen family unity; Provide legal avenues for low-skilled immigrants to come and work in the U.S.; Restore due process for immigrants, and Promote efforts that address the root causes of migration, such as poverty and persecution.
