ANNOUNCEMENTS Monday, May 25/15 Day 1 (AB CD) Destination Imagination - Highland’s senior team was the top Canadian team at the Global Championships in Knoxville, Tennessee. Our team members were Delaney Dunne, Claire Fullerton, Paul Wernicke, and Willem Roelants. They finished an amazing 4th place in their challenge; this was out of more than 70 teams from around the world. Way to go! No more Chinese food available on Fridays. Outdoor Adventure Club – paperwork and money is due on Tuesday, May 26. You MUST attend the meeting on Tuesday at lunch. Highland World Cup Intramural Soccer – begins next week, sign up your team with Mr. Bakker ASAP. First come, first served, Argentina and Canada are already taken. ISP – all grad-track ISP students have a pizza lunch in the ISP room on Wednesday. Denman Readers and Writers Festival – would you like to attend this event for free? The festival takes place July 16 – 19. You can get more information about the writers attending, timing of events, etc., at the festival website: www.denmanislandwritersfestival.com. We are hoping to find two enthusiastic students from Highland in grades 10-12. Desire to attend, and commitment to actually attend as much of the event as possible are the most important criteria. WORK EXPERIENCE RCMP Camp – can the following students please go to the WEX office ASAP: Tommy Molloy, Josie Young, Kaleb Hennicke, Colin Dixon, Dakota Kroetsch, Brandon Sharron. Comox Valley Art Gallery – is seeking applicants for 3 job postings as well as 9 paid youth positions. This is part of the upcoming Youth Media Project, running July 15 to September 4. More information in WEX office. Grad Volunteers Wanted – we need help with a number of grad activities. Set up on grad day (Saturday, May 30) help with food and collecting grad gowns after the ceremony. Relay for Life – interested in volunteering for this great event? More information in the WEX office. Comox Valley Youth Music Centre (CYMC) – is now accepting applications for student employment from June 28 to July 19. Job duties include dishwashing and kitchen prep work. Morning and afternoon shifts are available. To apply, students should drop off a current resume and covering letter at their career centre. Courtenay Recreation – summer volunteer opportunity for grade 12 credits. GRADS Grad Tickets – you can pick up your 5 tickets today IF you have paid your $125 grad fee.
