Pembroke Pines Charter High School Summer Reading List 2015

Pembroke Pines Charter High School
Summer Reading List
2015-2016
Directions:
Honors students will choose two selections; standard students will choose one. ALL
students will respond to the readings by completing the journal responses posted at the
end of the document. That means that honors students will create two journal responses—
one for each book they read. Parents may read the same books as their children, creating
their own journal responses to earn four volunteer hours.
Keep in mind that these readings will be the basis of your very first grades of the
quarter. All work completed must derive from your own original thoughts. Using
Sparknotes, Cliffs Notes, and/or other aides in place of reading the suggested texts will not
suffice. Type your responses using 12’ Times New Roman font with one inch margins,
double spaced. Bring in a printed copy PLUS save the work electronically as many of
you will also be required to submit the work through Turnitin.com during the first
week of school. We look forward to meeting all of you for an exciting and rewarding year.
Until then, enjoy your summer and your reading.
