Swimming Carnival
Congratulations to all the swimmers who participated in our Annual Swimming Carnival last Friday. The carnival
ran very smoothly thanks to the support of many parent volunteers under the direction of our PE Teacher Mr Lee
Thompson. This morning members of the Interschool squad attended a training session at HBF Arena, in
preparation for the Interschool Carnival on Thursday 26th March.
School Band
The School Band will be performing at our whole school Assembly next Wednesday March 25.
Cyber Safety
On Monday our Year 5 & 6 students attended an excellent Cyber Safety presentation given by Caitlin Basset, a
state and Australian netballer. Telstra sponsor this initiative and more information about how to keep your family
safe online can be found on their website http://www.telstra.com.au/consumer-advice/cyber-safety/
Stations of the Cross
On 2nd April, Holy Thursday, Stations of the Cross will be presented in our school grounds by Year 5GF, with the
assistance of our Year 6 Leaders under the direction of Mrs Natalie Templeton. In order to accommodate all the
students there will be an 8:45am and 9:30am performance. Parents are warmly invited to join us at one of these
times.
A bit of humour
Seeing her two sons fighting over the last of the pizza the mother said, "You boys should be acting more like Jesus, if He were here He would
give His brother the last piece."
The older brother looked at his younger sibling and said, "Jack, you be Jesus."

KINDY PLACES FOR 2016 (4 year olds)
Any parent or friend at our school with a child who turns four before 30 June 2016 and who requires a Kindy place in 2016 MUST complete an
APPLICATION FORM and return it to this Office by Friday 20 March 2015. Application Forms for Enrolment are available from the Office or on the
school website: www.ssp.wa.edu.au I have also attached a form for your convenience.
Parents enrolled in the 3YO program are reminded to enrol for 4YO Kindergarten which is the first year of enrolment at SSP. All 3YO program students
can enrol in the Kindy program and must do so now. Please do not assume that you have a place because this could disappoint.
Places are limited but priority will be given to the Catholic children of the parish and surrounding areas first and foremost. Please note: some parents
have already completed an Application Form so you do not need to do this again. You are welcome to check that we have your child’s name on our list
by phoning the Office on 9301 6888 during school hours just to ensure you receive an invitation to the meeting.
Parents who have lodged an application will be receiving a letter shortly inviting them to our Kindy Enrolment Meetings scheduled for
Monday 30 March at 9.15am and 6.00pm in the Hall. At least one parent from new families and from families already enrolled at the school (in K-6)
must attend this meeting to secure enrolment.
Uniform Shop
A quick reminder for the parents that there are only 3 weeks left to buy the winter uniforms.
Please make sure you have everything ready by the end of this term as children must return to school in Term 2 in full winter uniform.
Parents who are not able to come to the Uniform shop during the opening days and hours, please contact me by phone on 9301 6835 or by email at
[email protected] with your order.
Thank you.

Library News
As you may be aware, the Library is being refurbished. We are having new carpet, new shelving and it will be freshly painted. For this to happen we
are closing to students and staff for the last 2 weeks of this term, starting on Monday 23rd March, until the end of the first week of next term,
Friday 24th April.
Students are being allowed to borrow twice the amount of books this week, so please help your child to look after these books over the following 5
weeks, which includes the school holidays. Students in Years 4, 5 and 6 will still need their Library book on their Library day for quiet reading if they
have no Lexile Quiz to do. Students from pre-primary to Year 3 need to keep their books and bag safe at home and do not need to bring them to
school until Week 2, starting on Monday 27th April next term. If you need any further information concerning the Library closure please call in or phone
9301 6814. Thank you.

Convention Centre last Tuesday. Here’s what some of them had to
say about the day:

leader. My favourite activity was learning about how we could help
others with our time, treasure and talent.” Ella
“Leadership Day was a great opportunity to meet other students from
different schools. The day was filled with lots of interesting talks and
ideas on becoming a good leader such as standing up for yourself,
standing up for others and standing up for what is right.” Hannah
“GRIP Leadership Day was really fun. I learnt about being a leader
and what I can do to help the school. Over all it was a great
experience.” Madison Hilton-Carrol
