Assistant – Retail and Services
An exciting opportunity has arisen for Retail and Service Assistants with a strong focus on customer
service and a strong sales background in high end retail. Airport experience would be an advantage
although not essential.
Skill set:
 Experienced person in Customer service and Retail sales required.
Description:
 Customer focus is key.
 Retail sales of Travel goods.
 Services such as Bag wrap, Left luggage, Lost property, Luggage weighing.
Location:
 Edinburgh Airport Landside
Salary and Hours:
 £6.50 basic (set to rise in Oct)+ commission + £100 bonus on completion of probation
subject to terms and conditions. Airport retail and service hours are extensive where shift
work will be required including early morning or late hours, own transport or capability to
perform duties at these time is therefore essential. Part-time roles are available that may be
extended to full time.
Responsible To:
 Base Manager and Supervisors – Working closely to assist business growth whilst supervise
everyday responsibilities. Opportunities to excel and increase retail and service sales.
Key Accountability :
 To maximise profitability through external and internal sales opportunities whilst effectively
controlling costs.
 Bring the brand alive through people, product and environment.
 Delight customers by enhancing the customer experience.
 Delivery of Luggage-Point and Airport Passenger Charter.
Relationships with:
 Customer, colleagues, Base Manager. External networking (i.e. Airport operations, local
travel agents, Airline ground staff).
Imagination:
 Puts the customer first, smiles, acknowledges and uses appropriate techniques at busy
times.
 Recognise different customer types, adapts personal style to build rapport and identifies
customer needs and converts sales.
 Handles customer enquiries/complaints effectively and seeks opportunities to enhance the
customer experience.

 Respond to KPI's and service/store performance requests, communicates effectively with
team and takes actions to make improvements to service and increase sales.
 Maximise sales and prevent loss by monitoring, reviewing, checking and communicating
issues whilst ensuring that stock etc is stored in accordance with Luggage-Point and airport
guidelines and regulations.
 Responsible for the security of Company monies and property, therefore ensure all
administration and security procedures are followed by self and team and uses information
to take preventative actions.
 Maintain a clean and hygienic service area and store, front and back, ensuring it is well
organised, safe and complies with legal and internal procedures. Deal with issues
appropriately.

Other Duties:
 To carry out any duties as required in the first instance by the Base Manager and Supervisors
in order to support the success of the business.
 Cover Supervisor and colleagues if and when required.
 Performance reviewed regularly against Management objectives and Key Performance
Indicators.
Position offered subject to satisfactory Criminal Record Checks, references and successful probation
period.
