POSITION TITLE: MFC Apprentice Trimmer Maker REPORTS TO: MFC Die Room Supervisor LOCATION: Meadville Plant SHIFT: 2 nd POSITION SUMMARY and KEY OBJECTIVES: The Apprentice Trimmer Maker position is a four year long on-the-job training program that will result in a FIA certified Impression Trimmer Maker position. This position will support our forging operation by assembling dies and die sets, as well as preparing any tooling necessary for secondary operations. This support function will also include some lathe operation and surface grinding of punches, trim blades and seats (as well as drilling and tapping as necessary). Applicants with prior Apprentice Trimmer Maker experience may be granted credit for their previous experience. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES and JOB DUTIES: Assembling of Die Sets Assembling of Dies Lathe Operation Surface Grinding Participate in continuous improvement ideas and help support on-going projects as required Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATION and EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent required Trade school preferred Manual machining background a plus Ability to read machinery blueprints and drawings required Ability to use micrometers a must Mechanically inclined A concern for safety is a must An excellent attendance record is a must Physical Demands Reaching: Frequently required when assembling dies and die sets. Bending: Frequently required in the essential functions of the job. Hand usage: Frequently required for reaching and grasping. Lifting: Up to 25 lbs. frequently. Walking: Continuously walking and standing up 6-8 hours per day. Environment: Mostly indoors, dirty, working on concrete flooring. Cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Hours: A minimum of 8 hours per day, 5 to 6 days a week depending on production demand.
