She will go on to represent the state at the national level! Congratulations to two other Meads students for being among the top five winners at state! They are Alex G. for music composition, and Kristina M. for literature. National Geographic Bee State Semifinalist – Elizabeth T.! Congratulations to 8th grader Elizabeth T.! She advances to the semifinal round of the 2015 Michigan National Geographic State Bee. The contest will be held at the Fetzer Center in Kalamazoo on Friday, March 27. Good Luck, Elizabeth!! More Academic Games News! Also competing at the 41st State Tournament in Grand Rapids were nine 8th graders and one 7th grader from Meads Mill. It was intense competition for two straight days with teams playing from 9 am to 11 pm against 45 teams across Michigan. The Chaotic Penguins team (Timothy W., Saaz M., Alex G., Isabella L., Surbhi N.) are State Champs in Regular WFF, second place in State for Adventurous Equation, Division first in On-sets, third place in State for Presidents, and third in State for Propaganda. The Ramen Noodles team (Dhruv P., Krisha P., Brian Y., Annabel Y., Jean X.) are State Champs in Basic WFF, honorable mention in Propaganda, and honorable mention in Presidents. Both teams qualified for the AG National tournament to be held in Orlando, Florida, April 24-27. Congratulations and good luck everyone! Science Olympiad and Mathcounts Updates! The Meads Mill Science Olympiad Team took 1st place in the 2015 Regional Science Olympiad Tournament on March 14. The overall team scores are posted on www.region8solorg. This is their fifth year in a row as Region 8 champions! Our school is now invited to the Michigan State Tournament on May 2 at Michigan State University in East Lansing (http://scienceolympiad.msu.edu/), where the top 48 middle school and high school teams will be competing. Great job everyone! At the Mathcounts State Competition on March 14, the Meads Mill team took 3rd place! Team members included Sai A., Timothy W., Shreya K., and Heidi H. Way to go teams!
