Dogs need to be treated throughout the year to be sure they don’t pick up
fleas or ticks. Dogs generally carry only a few fleas at any given time, while 95%
of fleas are present in the environment, as flea eggs, larvae and pupae.
Ticks can be found in many of the outdoor locations your dog loves best,
such as fields, parks, or woodland. Even your garden can be a haven for
ticks, especially if you’re seeing hedgehogs or live close to a park.
A single treatment will not protect your dog against future re-infestation
by fleas and ticks: they need regular protection at the correct intervals.
Your vet knows your dog and will advise you on the right timing to suit
his/her lifestyle. If your dog does become infested, rapid treatment is
essential to protect him against parasite-related diseases and contamination
of your home by fleas.

What happens if my dog doesn’t take the chew?
NexGard is highly palatable and will be taken
voluntarily by most dogs. If your dog is a picky
eater and decides not to eat the chew by itself,
you can try mixing it with his/her favourite treat.
How often can I give NexGard to my dog?
NexGard should be given every month to protect
your dog against fleas and ticks. Just because
you are not seeing parasites on your pet doesn’t
mean that they are not being exposed to them

What do I need to know about NexGard
and parasite control?
NexGard starts to kill fleas quickly by causing
stimulation of the flea nervous system. You may
start to see increased flea activity within 2 hours of
treatment. These fleas will rise to the surface
of the coat and will fall off and die within 8 hours.
If there are already flea eggs and larvae in the
home before starting treatment, it can take up to
3 months of monthly treatment before the home
infestation starts to resolve.

OF FLEA AND
TICK CONTROL
Most ticks take up to 10 days of feeding before
they detach from an untreated dog. NexGard will
kill ticks within 48 hours. The ticks will need to attach
and ingest some blood before they die so you may
still see some ticks from time to time. Once dead
you can carefully remove them using tweezers
or a tick hook if they don’t detach on their own.

NexGard 11 mg chewable tablets for dogs 2–4 kg; 28 mg chewable tablets for dogs > 4–10 kg; 68 mg chewable tablets
for dogs > 10–25 kg; 136 mg chewable tablets for dogs > 25–50 kg. Mottled red to reddish brown, circular or rectangular
chewable tablets containing afoxolaner. For treatment of flea infestation in dogs for at least 5 weeks, can be used as part of
a treatment strategy for the control of flea allergy dermatitis (FAD). For treatment of tick infestation in dogs (D. reticulatus, I.
ricinus, R. sanguineus) for up to one month. Fleas and ticks must attach and commence feeding to be exposed to the active
substance. For fleas, the onset of effect is within 8 hours of attachment. For ticks, the onset of effect is within 48 hours of
attachment. Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients. Parasites need to start
feeding to become exposed to afoxolaner; therefore the risk of the transmission of diseases cannot be excluded. Treatment of
puppies less than 8 weeks of age and/or dogs less than 2 kg bodyweight should be based on a benefit-risk assessment by the
responsible vet. To prevent children from getting access to the product, remove only one tablet at a time from the blister. Return
blister with remaining chewable tablets to the carton. Wash hands after handling the product. The safety of the veterinary
medicinal product has not been established during pregnancy and lactation or in breeding dogs. Use only according to the
benefit-risk assessment by the responsible vet. For oral use. The product should be administered at a dose of 2.7–6.9 mg/
kg bodyweight. For dogs above 50 kg body weight, use an appropriate combination of chewable tablets of different/ same
strengths. The tablets should not be divided. If the dog does not accept the tablets they may be administered with food. Treat at
monthly intervals throughout the flea and/or tick seasons, based on local epidemiological situations.
