About AAF Columbus
The Columbus chapter of the American Advertising Federation represents over 100
member companies. AAF Columbus works to enhance the professional development
of its members, while increasing recognition for the advertising industry and giving
back to the local community.
Why ADDYs Make Mommas Proud
The ADDYs are the advertising industry’s largest, most representative competition.
Every year, the event attracts more than 50,000 entries nationwide through local
ADDY competitions. Leading work is rewarded with Gold and Silver awards, and
the top honors given are Judge’s Choice and Best of Show. Gold winners are
automatically entered into the AAF Fifth District ADDY competition, in which entries
from Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia compete to advance to the national judging.

Suzanne Darmory
Creative Director/Copy, thelab, New York
Suzanne Darmory is Creative Director/Copy at thelab, an
advertising and media arts company in New York. A veteran of the
New York agency scene, she has worked at Arnold, Deutsch, Grey,
JWT, mcgarrybowen, McCann, OgilvyOne, R/GA and SS+K. She
also worked in London for three years, at Bates UK, Euro RSCG,
Imagination and Ogilvy & Mather.
Suzanne has nearly 20 years of international, award-winning
experience creating integrated solutions for major clients: American
Express, Coca-Cola, Diageo, Ford, HSBC, IBM, IKEA, Johnson &
Johnson, Kodak, Microsoft, Royal Caribbean, Target, and Verizon
Wireless. Additionally, Suzanne is an ongoing judge for the John
Caples International Awards.

David Shields is the Chair of the Department of Graphic Design at
Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, one of the country’s
top advertising and design schools. Previously he was an Associate
Professor of Design at The University of Texas at Austin. Before
joining the UT faculty in 2004, David lived in Brooklyn and taught
at a number of prestigious institutions in the New York region. He
continues to practice as a designer at the studio he co-founded in
Brooklyn, Viewers Like You. Shields holds a BFA from Memphis State
University and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art.
