The following three concepts respond to public input received to date and may be modified and/or merged into a single alternative during the “Design” phase. Concept 3 offers diverse landscapes and settings as well as large, occupiable open areas. Concept 3 supports a range of group sizes as well as programs and experiences, from individual pursuits and small gatherings to larger social activities and special events. Concept 3 includes a Youth Campus that comprises the Crissy Field Center (Building 603) and a Learning Landscape at the base of the bluff where outdoor environmental education and immersive exhibits are offered. Crissy Field Center is expanded, and two modest structures are added nearby to accommodate gathering and programs. The Observation Post (Building 211) is demolished and replaced with a new, larger public-serving building that occupies a central site. The new building is conceived of as two distinct spaces, each with sloping, green roofs that are accessible. Building 201 is moved to its permanent location on the west side of Halleck Street and rehabilitated by the Presidio Parkway (Doyle Drive) project. 210 is rehabilitated as the new Presidio Visitor Center under a separate Trust action. 215 remains the Transit Center. Concept 3 includes three overlooks. A small, east-facing amphitheater offers seating and space for performances. The plaza is expanded to provide a gathering area west of the Visitor Center features seating areas and a fire pit. Key elements: Youth Campus, promenade, pathways, lawns, and gardens; Central Zocalo and a gathering area with fire pit; terraced seating, three overlooks, and a small-scale amphitheater; and 61,100 square feet of building space and 64 parking spaces.
