Cup” with Bill Jencks and Paul Bjorkholm Skippers.
“We had a perfect day for racing on Saturday with calm
seas and West winds at 10 - 12 kts most of the day. A
total of 16 boats participated broken into 3 classes, A, B
and C. There was no cruising class and we were placed
in Class C with one other boat, a 41' that used as spinnaker on the down wind leg so we were destined for 2nd
and 3rd place before we started...All in all a good day on
the water and as we improve our downwind sailing and
gain experience with our crews we could become reasonably competitive and have a good time. ” Reported
Skipper Stan Espenship.
Something new: A Gennaker Committee, chaired by
Skipper Frank Reinhart, is looking at the program and
will present recommendations to the Directors.

to ensure that our 12 Mate candidates are moving forward with
their training.

Commodore reported that the Membership Chair and Welcome
Committee will gather data on why members leave the club. Can
we enhance membership retainment?
Ken Montgomery volunteered to help the
Treasurer with the monthly data-entry work. This
is big help and an opportunity for Ken to get club
“nuts and bolts” experience.
Steve Sawdon volunteered to be the new Outreach Chair replacing outgoing chair Chris Bassett who did a great job with our videos and
newspaper placement.
John Santo agreed to take over maintenance
replacing Bill Jencks. Bill worked day and night
to keep our boats in the excellent condition we
enjoy daily. WE THANK THEM ALL, THE NEW AND
THE “OLD”
Season: Watch for opportunities to sail to
Dana point, Los Alamitos and overnights as
well. Ask any Skipper if you are interested.
