The Director is responsible for creating productive synergy across the OKIB Divisions. JOB SUMMARY The Director is responsible for overseeing the department managers, the programs ensuring excellence in the provision of services using a service-based model. The Director is responsible for providing leadership and organizational development to the management team while achieving the objectives of the strategic plan. He/she will make recommendations to the Executive Director on the overall direction, leadership, policy and management of division programs and services that are consistent with OKIB principles. REPORTING STRUCTURE Reports to the Executive Director JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES pg. 2 Act as a consultant/advisor to the Executive Director in the development, implementation, evaluation and delivery of division programs Develops strategic plans, priorities, objectives, budgets and evaluation criteria for the division Directs and executes risk management programs Ensures coordination and integration of services between all division departments Provides professional development planning and implementation Accountable for ensuring programs are delivered on-time, on budget within scope and in compliance with all regulatory requirements Responsible to oversee and monitor budgets, financial reports and contribution agreement requirements for the division ensuring deliverables are met within the financial resources allocated Manages organizational relationships from the senior management to the executive level JOB POSTING DEPARTMENT: COMMUNITY AND ORGANIZATIONAL SERVICES AND DEVELOPMENT JOB TITLE: DIRECTOR OF COMMUNITY AND ORGANIZATIONAL SERVICES AND DEVELOPMENT Act as a central focal point for education, health and social program funding for community members as appropriate, to ensure a coordinated, consistent approach to funding issues and reporting Negotiate with various funding agencies on behalf of the OKIB and acts as a central contact for the receipt and disbursement to the communities of program funding in conjunction with the Community and Organizational Services and Development Committee and the Executive Director Acts as a representative for the OKIB on various committees and Boards Develop and maintain community contacts and other networks to assist in the promotion of unity and responsibility at the community level Ensure programs raise the level of health, healthy lifestyles and preventative measures Facilitate networking and information sharing to access inter-agency resources Provide public relations management related to COSD programs Provide advice and guidance as required to all relevant parties, on an ad hoc basis All persons employed by the Okanagan Indian Band may be required to assist the Band in providing emergency services. There may be some lifting of supplies and materials from time to time. The director is required to travel and may work extended or flexible hours as required. Environmental Conditions May have to manage a number of projects at one time, and interruptions many occur frequently. The working environment to be busy and noisy and will need excellent stress and time management skills. Sensory Demands Sensory demands include use of the computer, learning aids, and speaking much of the time. The office may be noisy and busy making it difficult to concentrate. Mental Demands Will need to maintain a calm, respectful yet firm demeanor requiring cognitive effort to deal with various behaviour and needs of clients. May regularly face stressful situations due to the sensitive nature of the program.
