OTTAWA, ON, May 1, 2015 - The Canadian Lacrosse Association (CLA) is pleased to announce the appointment of JeanFrançois Roy as the CLA Program Coordinator. Jean-François will join Joanne, Britany and Jane in Ottawa at the CLA office.
For the past four years, Jean-François served as the Development Program Coordinator of the National Team Program with
Athletics Canada. During that time, Jean-François was responsible for the coordination of development program; a complex
initiative of tracking and monitoring athletes' performances through the phases of the Long-Term Athlete Development
program. It has been his responsibility to manage projects through their lifecycles bringing to the forefront his ability to
effectively and efficiently coordinate multiple projects at once.
Jean-François also has extensive experience with the National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) as a certified coach
and most recently completing his training to become a learning facilitator for football. During his tenure with Athletics
Canada he was involved in updating their coach education delivery method to an e-learning tool and was responsible for
the design and delivery of Athletics Canada's 2014 Mentorship Program for identified coaches. Jean-François has also held
a number of positions as a professional and a volunteer supporting various athlete development initiatives.
Throughout his career Jean-François has worked closely with provincial partners and key stakeholders at various levels of
the Canadian sport system, and he will continue doing so as CLA's Program Coordinator.
Jean-François has a Bachelor of Arts, Social Science from Bishops University (Sherbrooke, QC) and a graduate certificate in
Sport Business Management from Algonquin College.
Jean-François’ involvement in Athletics Canada's development program, as well as his background and knowledge of the
NCCP make him a great fit as CLA's Program Coordinator," said CLA's Executive Director, Joanne Thomson. "Having worked
with another national sport organization, he knows what it's like to have several projects and programs on the go at one
time and how to effectively manage multiple priorities at once while paying attention to the fine details required for the
success of a project. We are excited to have him join our team."
As Program Coordinator, Jean-François will coordinate the CLA coaching and officiating programs. He will also be
responsible for project and program applications, as well as the coordination of domestic development programs and plans.
Jean-François will be the staff resource for the CLA's Equipment Review Committee.
Jean-François' first official day in the CLA office will be May 6, 2015. Please join us in welcoming Jean-François to the CLA
office and to our greater lacrosse community.
