It has been a fabulous experience for all involved, and this Friday, we are having a special time to share with the whole school what has been happening in the different year levels. In the morning we will be having a ‘walk through’ by the children throughout the school so that the different classes can showcase their learnings. Then, at 10.20am, we will be having an ANZAC Day service in the Wicking Centre, run by our Student Junior School Council. We would like to invite you to join us on Friday morning. You are more than welcome to come from 9.50am on, have a quick look around the classes, come to the service and then have more time till 11am to spend in the classes with the children. It will be a wonderful time of remembrance and celebration on Friday and we are looking forward to sharing with our school community. If you do have a moment, please take some time to see the fantastic display Rosie Campbell has done with her ‘Avenue of Honour’ in commemoration of our soldiers. Rosie’s mum has knitted beautiful poppies that are just stunning and a lovely tribute to our Service men and women. This week is whole school Cross Country week. The Foundation through to Year 2 students had their events on Tuesday and the senior school will be running on Thursday. There is quite a bit of hype around Cross Country as the children are very excited and many take the challenge very seriously. On Thursday afternoon we will be having a special Cross Country Assembly to go through the results and announce the winners. All the students in the winning house will receive the inaugural Orchard Grove House Cross Country Winners ribbon, which is fantastic. Luckily the weather was brilliant for the little ones. Unfortunately, at writing this newsletter piece, the weather is looking very gloomy with a high chance of rain for Thursday, so we will see how we go – weather permitting. Our Cricket Clinics have started this week and will go for the next few weeks. Each class from 2-6 have sessions scheduled and it is a great Aussie tradition that is good for all kids to have an opportunity to learn, understand and play. School Philosophy Orchard Grove Primary School is committed to providing a safe, nurturing environment that engages curiosity, promotes learning, personal growth and wellbeing for all students. We have been enjoying our new Foosball table and we will be in the long room for after care due to our large numbers. Children have been enjoying table tennis and Wii dance as the most popular activities. Come in and see the staff have a dance, too! During outside play at OSHClub all children are still required to bring a spare hat as the UV rays remain quite high. Please supply a hat in their school bag when possible. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to call the program on 0438 565 727. Calls will be answered/returned between 7-9am and 3-6pm. Also, please remember to book your children into the program online to avoid the casual fee surcharge and assist the program to be appropriately staffed to comply with regulations.
