“A.D.”, Sunday Nights, NBC-TV, 8:00 pm
This twelve week mini-series explores the struggle of the early Christian disciples to survive and share their beliefs.

EPISODE 7: “You Are All One in Christ Jesus” (Air date: Sunday, May 17, 8:00 pm, NBC-TV)
Episode Summary: Philip goes to Samaria and encounters Simon the Sorcerer, a local leader. Emperor Tiberius visits Jerusalem, and Pontius Pilate lobbies for a promotion that would send him to Syria. Mary of Magdala encounters her old friend Joanna at Pilate’s palace. Saul continues his persecution
of the Christians and sets out for Damascus to search for Peter. Scriptural background: Acts 8:1-13;
Luke 8:2-3.
Discussion questions: As Philip heals the Samaritan woman, he says to her, “I release you from your
prison.” How does Jesus free all humanity from a kind of imprisonment? Is Saul doing God’s will as
he claims to be? In this episode, what contrasts do we see between misguided leaders and true leaders?
Do you have a favorite character(s) in this mini-series?

Parish Council Meeting—March 26, 2015
Members in attendance: Steve Smith, Kathy Fraser, Michele
Ward, Kevin Doty, Kathy Johnson, Dave Kellner, Veronica Velez
and Sandy Sichak.
Approval of Previous Meeting Minutes: The Council approved
the Minutes of February 26, 2015.
Financial Report: The Profit & Loss Summary Statement for
July through February 2015 was distributed and discussed. The
envelope and plate contributions are under budget by $16,771.23
and no major fund raising events are planned for the next few
months.
A discussion was held regarding staff salaries and the difficulties
in recruiting and retaining staff because of the low salary compensation. Discussions are underway to address the issue.
Kathy Fraser presented next year’s budget to the Finance Committee for their review and is waiting for their comments.
The yearly assessment by the Archdiocese is being reduced this
year. The parish will not be assessed on school income, but will
be assessed on parish income. This new calculation will mean the
assessment will be reduced by approximately $20,000.00.
Kathy Fraser reported the Parish is looking to hire a Maintenance
Supervisor.
Discipleship Committee Report: Parishioners will be giving their
witness talks at the Masses on the weekend of April 18 and 19.
There will be a Healing Mass on April 28 and the presider will be
Father Jim Livingston.
Planning is underway for a mini parish retreat in May.
Improvements for the Parish Campus/Maintenance Report:
The sidewalk damaged by the water leak will be repaired by parish maintenance workers on a weekend at the end of May.
The lower roof of the church will be replaced and the work will
begin in late September. An estimate of the replacement cost is
$115,000.00. A discussion was held regarding the payment of the
roof replacement as it has been determined the work must be done
and can no longer be delayed. Further discussion will continue on
fund raising options.
Pray for a Priest
Will You Pray for a Priest Each Day?
Prayer Suggestion: Dear Jesus, hear my prayer on behalf of
your priest, Father [N]. Give him a deep faith, a bright and firm
hope, and a burning love which will ever increase in the course of
his priestly life. Be his comfort, his joy, and his strength. Amen.

ASCENSION OF THE LORD
Liturgy Ministry Report: The main power cage for the Allen organ in church has now been fixed and is fully functional.
Preparations have begun for Holy Week and Easter. Additional
volunteers are needed as Church Servants and Ushers. Volunteers
are to contact Tony Freeman.
Pastoral Ministry Report: A discussion was held regarding the
lack of recycling containers for aluminum and plastic in Fellowship Hall. Kathy Fraser will look into obtaining proper containers
and making them available.
At the request of a parishioner, Michele Ward led a discussion
regarding funeral lunches and the possibility of funeral lunch food
being prepared by parish workers instead of outside caterers.
Some major considerations discussed with offering this service to
families would be the need for additional volunteers to prepare
and to shop for the food. Additional research and discussion are
needed.
School Report: The All School Reunion was a huge success and
was very well attended. Compliments were given to the janitorial
staff and the volunteers who did cleaning and made improvements
to make the school and campus look great.
The Queen of May Dinner will be held May 1 and tickets are being sold for the event.
Faith Formation Report: The candidates in the RCIA program
will be initiated at the Vigil Mass on Holy Saturday.
Our Lady of Guadalupe Group Report: Our Lady of Guadalupe
Prayer Group will host a Holy Hour and Fellowship event on Friday, April 24. The Prayer Group continues to meet each Friday at
6:00 pm and includes an outside procession around the church
campus.
Additional Topics: The Council continued discussing the book,
Forming Intentional Disciples. For the next meeting, Council
Members are asked to read Chapter 7 and complete the discussion
questions.
The meeting was adjourned with the next Parish Council Meeting
set for Thursday, April 30, 2015 at 6:00 pm in the St. Clare Room
in the school.
Road to Discipleship
“Dear children, open your hearts and try to feel how much I love
you and how much I desire for you to love my Son. I desire for
you to come to know Him all the better, because it is impossible
to know Him and not to love Him—because He is love. I, my
children, know you. I know your pain and suffering because I
lived through them. I laugh with you in your joy and I cry with
you in your pain. I will never leave you. I will always speak to
you with motherly tenderness. And I, as a mother, need your open
hearts to spread the love of my Son with wisdom and simplicity. I
need you to be open and sensitive to the good and mercy. I need
you to be united with my Son, because I desire for you to be happy and to help me to bring happiness to all of my children. My
apostles, I need you to show everyone the truth of God, so that
my heart, which suffered and today suffers so much pain, can win
in love. Pray for the holiness of your shepherds, so that in the
name of my Son they can work miracles, because holiness works
miracles. Thank you.”

Eucharistic Adoration
I will not leave you orphans, says the Lord. I will come back
to you, and your heart will rejoice. —John 14:18
esus ascended into heaven and He promised He
will come back. Until then, we must continue His
work. Just as the apostles spread the good news of
Jesus, we must also spread His message. In order to
do that, we need the help of the Holy Spirit to guide
us. We ask for that help in prayer and Eucharistic
Adoration gives us the opportunity for quiet prayer
before the Blessed Sacrament. All are welcome and encouraged to
spend some time in Adoration.
In order to continue to have our Adoration Chapel available and
open each day and evening during the week, we need additional
Adorers to volunteer to cover hours. We have an urgent need for
volunteers to cover Thursdays at 8:00 am and 9:00 am. We
also need additional substitute Adorers and partner Adorers.
Substitutes are always needed for both daytime and evening
hours. We especially need partner Adorers for Mondays at 11:00
am and noon, Tuesdays at 3:00 pm, and Wednesdays at 4:00 pm.
If you would like information or if you are able to commit to an
hour of Adoration, please call Sandy at 763-789-3246 or Fran at

MAY 17, 2015
“So then the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them, was taken up into heaven ... But they went forth and preached everywhere.” What a roller coaster
of emotions the disciples must have experienced. First, they had come to
know Jesus and had changed their lives to follow him. Then they had
watched him die a tragic death on the cross. Following that, they were
astonished to experience the glory of his resurrection, and then they enjoyed his company for a while longer. But now, they had to bid farewell
again. Now they watched as Jesus ascended into heaven, leaving them
with their instructions: “Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel
to every creature.”
It’s inspiring to see how the disciples handled all of this. Even though they
must have been struggling with a kind of sadness or disappointment when
Jesus left them, they didn’t dwell on that. They went out and did what they
had been called to do. They “preached everywhere” and shared with others
the good news. Focusing on the joy they had come to know through their
relationship with Jesus, they were able to share that joy with the people
around them.
Like the first disciples, we are also called to share the gospel with others.
Certainly through our lived example we should reveal to others the joy
that Jesus brings. Even though he is not physically walking amongst us,
the lives of Christian believers reveal an ongoing relationship with him.
There may be times and situations, however, that require more of us than
just being witnesses. Sometimes God calls us to share more directly and
more courageously the message of faith. May we follow the example of
the disciples, who readily embraced this call.
