During the first year, students receive religious training (Faith Formation on Sundays for public school students; regular in-school religion classes for parochial school students). During the second year, all students enroll in a class called Sacramental Preparation (with meetings on selected Saturdays) and all students receive religious instruction (public school children in Faith Formation classes, parochial school children at their Catholic school). All you have to do to help is save some of the product labels or lids listed on our fundraising form on our web site. Each label or lid gives our ministry actual cash depending on the brand. It is easy and free considering that most of the times we throw these items away. You do NOT have to buy the items at Fiesta (except one item) so feel free to shop at your favorite store. You may drop the labels off or mail them to the parish office at any time. Today is the Seventh Sunday of Easter! However we here in our part of the country celebrate the Ascension of the Lord today not the Thursday prior to the Seventh Sunday of Easter. All Catholics in the United States celebrate the Ascension of the Lord this Sunday, except in Boston, Hartford, New York, Newark, Omaha and Philadelphia where the celebration takes place on the Thursday before the Seventh Sunday of Easter. I am in need of folks who may be interested in assisting me in the RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) program. These are folks that are discerning if the Holy Spirit is leading them toward the Catholic Church, or Catholics who were baptized but never received the other two Sacraments of Initiation. If you feel the call to serve, get in touch with me. If you are interested in becoming Catholic or have been baptized in another faith and would like to know more about our Catholic faith please give me a call and let’s set up a time to meet. Or if you were baptized in the Catholic faith but have not received the Sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion contact me at the office. I am still seeking folks that are interested in serving our Parish community in some capacity. Are you hearing God calling you to serve? If one of the ministries below appears to be where God is calling you to, then please contact me so I can help you in your discernment. 1. 2. Infant Baptisms: We ar e in need of folks both English and Spanish, to volunteer to assist with Infant Baptisms. Deacon Garry Janota handles the English Baptisms and Deacon Jose Gutierrez handles the Spanish Baptisms. This is such a rewarding way to assist and witness those little ones in their first Sacrament of Initiation. Bible Study: I would love to see us br ing Bible Study groups to St. Anne. This is a beautiful way to break open God’s word and at the same time learn more about all the people that God chose to work through and proclaim His word. It is also a way to learn more about God, our Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Personally I have been involved over the last 5-6 years in a Scripture study and I know that it has helped me tremendously. It has enriched my life in so many ways. So if you are interested in helping us start a Bible study at St. Anne please contact me at the Parish office or even if you are interested in simply attending, give me a call or send me an email at [email protected]. This will give me an opportunity to see how many would be willing to participate in a Bible Study. Have a blessed week!! From Mark’s Gospel we hear the final words Jesus spoke to his disciples shortly before he ascended into heaven. Those were words of commissioning, no less real for us today than they were to the disciples then. We are called to “proclaim the gospel to every creature.” For the vast majority of us, this means that we proclaim the gospel by the witness of our everyday lives. Treating others with dignity and respect, providing for those less fortunate than ourselves, being good stewards of the many gifts showered on us, coming together as God’s family in worship and praise—these are all signs that the gospel has taken root in our lives.
