Midland BT Updater After you downloaded the “BT Updater setup” application from the web site, double click on it and follow the installation procedure. The BTUpdater application is automatically installed under the “Program” menu (or “Program file (x86)”), inside the “Midland” folder. Connect now the BT device to the PC using the USB cable provided in the box (same cable used on the wall charger to charge the unit). If your USB cable is the double version, be sure to connect only one BT unit at a time. Window will detect a new USB device and you will have two options: OPTION 1 - the device is recognized as Generic Bluetooth device (no Wizard window come up). To make the software work properly you need to update the USB driver following the procedure “Manual installation of the USB driver”. OPTION 2 - the “New hardware installer Wizard” come up, you need to follow the “Wizard procedure”. ATTENTION: Normally for VISTA and Window 7 follow the procedure explained on OPTION 1 1 Option 1: Manual installation of the USB driver Windows XP Windows Vista Go to the “Control Panel” and double click on the “System” icon. Windows 7 Go to the “Control Panel” and double click on the “System and Maintenance” icon. Go to the “Control Panel”, select “System and Security” and click on the “System” Windows XP Windows Vista Choose the “Hardware” tab and click on the “Device manager” button Windows 7 Select “Device Manager” from the list on the left. Click on the “Device Manager” on the left side of the window 2 Windows XP Windows Vista and Windows 7 Select “Generic Bluetooth radio” under the “Bluetooth Radio” device list Select “Generic Bluetooth radio” under the “Bluetooth Radio” device list Use the right button of the mouse to open up the menu and choose “Update Driver Software …” Use the right button of the mouse to open up the menu and choose “Update driver …” Windows XP Windows Vista and Windows 7 The Hardware Update Wizad window will came up and you choose “No, no this time” and click on “Next” button. Choose than “Install form a list of specific location (advanced). The Update Driver Software window will came up and choose “Browse my computer for driver software”. 3 Windows XP Windows Vista and Windows 7 Choose “Don’t search, I will choose the drive to install” (red arrow) ”and click on the “Next” button. Choose now “Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer”, and click on the “Next” button. Click now on”Driver disc” button (A) and from the new small window on the “Browse” button (B). Select “Driver disk” and from the new window click on the “Browse” button 4 Windows XP Windows Vista and Windows 7 Go to the Midland BT Updater folder (C:Programs/Midland/BTUpdater) and choose “Win32” in the “Driver” folder Go to the Midland BT Updater folder (C:Programs/Midland/BTUpdater) or “Program file (x86), choose the “Drivers” folder and select the “Win32” or “Win64” folder based on the Windows version you have. Windows XP Windows Vista e Windows 7 Select “CSR BlueCore Bluetooth” and click on “Next” button. The upgrade process will start… Select “CSR BlueCore Bluetooth” and click on “Next” button The upgrade process will start… 5 Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7 When the update process will finish, you will find the BTNext unit, with the name “CSR BlueCore Bluetooth” under the “Universal Serial Bus controllers” list. Disconnect and reconnect the BTNext to the PC and open the BTnext Updater software, now you can use the software to manage the unit and update the firmware. Option 2: Wizard procedure Windows XP Windows Vista and Windows 7 The Hardware Update Wizad window will came up and you choose “No, no this time” and click on “Next” button. The Update Driver Software window will came up and choose “Browse my computer for driver software”. 6 Windows XP Windows Vista and Windows 7 Choose “Install form a list of specific location (advanced). Click now the “Browse” button. Select “Source for the best driver in this location” and click the “Browse” button 7 Windows XP Windows Vista and Windows 7 Go to the Midland BT Updater folder (C:Programs/Midland/BTUpdater) and choose “Win32” in the “Driver” folder Go to the Midland BT Updater folder (C:Programs/Midland/BTUpdater) or “Program file (x86), choose the “Drivers” folder and select the “Win32” or “Win64” folder based on the Windows version you have.
