Caught Being Good
Last year, the students and staff developed a set of behaviour expectations for our
school. These were grouped in four main areas: being a learner, being respectful,
being responsible and being safe. These behaviours are taught in class & reinforced
throughout the school and when out on school activities./ outings / excursions.
This term the teachers are targeting a particular area each week when giving out
Caught being good raffle tickets. For example, this week the students are being given
tickets for demonstrating behaviours for being a learner (see our “Caught being
Good” section further in the newsletter). The tickets will be collated and drawn at
next weeks’ assembly.
Important Dates to Remember.
Swimming
Emma Rudge our P.E. teacher said that this week’s lessons went really well and she
was very impressed with how many students had remembered their swimming gear
on the first day back at school! Congratulations to Emma Whiting who received a
ribbon at assembly for ‘becoming a member of the 500m club’!
Monday

Words on Wellbeing
The Simple Things in Life
Welcome back to Term 2! I trust all of our school
community had a restful break. It is worthwhile to
take a moment and reflect on the successes thus far
in 2015.
Your children are engaged in their learning and
connected to friends and teachers.
You have enjoyed just having them home over
Easter and doing the simple things of life that
matter for families: a meal together; a couple of
sleep-ins; a trip to the cinema or just some chats
over an afternoon tea. And yes, it is good to send
them back!
For our wellbeing, it is the simple things in life that
we need to celebrate. For learning to happen, there
needs to be that valuable partnership between home
and school. If there is something troubling you, this
can impact on our general state of mind.
We cannot be ‘happy’ all of the time but we can
learn to appreciate simple, honest things that bind
our families together. So a problem shared can be a
problem halved. Celebrate what you have and it is
not a sign of weakness to ask for support or
guidance. I believe it is a sign of strength to
recognise at times in all of our lives, we need
others to help us. This is a simple idea we all need
to implement. Support, share and help each other –
always.
Sue Cowie – Wellbeing Coordinator
At our whole school assembly,
we draw the
“Caught Being Good” raffle.
Throughout the week, staff give
students a raffle ticket for
displaying positive behaviour either
in their classroom, on the
playground or in any school events
such as excursions, outings or
community access.
