Week 23/24 Love Island The Real Housewives of New Jersey Sunday - Thursday, 9pm Thursday, 10pm Afterlife * Cycling: Criterium du Dauphine Live * Friday, 10pm Monday - Friday, times vary Jordskott Wednesday, 10pm 6th - 12th June 2015 Pokemon the Series: XY * ITV.com Monday, 5pm Week 23/24 6th - 12th June 2015 Me and My Guide Dog Tuesday 9th June, 8pm This two-part documentary narrated by Timothy Spall explores the unique relationship that exists between blind people and their guide dogs. Gaining exclusive access to the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, which has been matching visually impaired people to the ideal canine guide for the past 80 years, the film highlights the difference that such loyal animals can make to the lives of those who cannot see for themselves. The programmes also follow one particular litter of pups from the moment of their birth, through their training and up to the momentous day when they are finally paired with the blind person they will serve and protect. In the first programme of the series, the pups are taken from the National Breeding Centre where they were born to spend their first year with volunteer foster families across the country. Some foster families such as Tony and Carol – who are caring for their 11th puppy this time round – are old hands, but others such as firsttimers Jean and Colin can find their puppies something of a handful! Also featured are stories from guide dog owners such as Jill, whose dog Lucas led her to meet her idol Dolly Parton, and Jason, whose dog Yozi saved his life but now faces a battle to save her own. Home Fires Sunday 7th June, 9pm Acclaimed actresses Francesca Annis and Samantha Bond lead an ensemble cast in the penultimate episode of this six-part wartime drama series. The series follows a group of inspirational women in a rural Cheshire community as the shadow of World War II casts a dark cloud over their lives. The isolated village feels a world away from the bloodshed and battlefields, but is not immune from the effects of war. By banding together as the Great Paxford Women's Institute, the women of the village discover inner resources that will change their lives for ever. In this week's episode, Erica (Frances Grey) is unexpectedly forced to reveal what she has done to protect Pat (Claire Rushbrook). Frances (Bond) takes in an evacuee from Liverpool, but when she arrives, Isobel (Gillian Dean) is not quite what the household bargained for. Miriam (Claire Price) throws herself into writing letters to friendless soldiers, but her efforts may do more harm than good. The stakes are raised in Laura's (Leila Mimmack) affair with Richard (Philip McGinley) after someone sees them together, whilst a surprise visit from Adam (Mark Bonnar) brings Nick (Mark Umbers) and Sarah's (Ruth Gemmell) friendship into uncomfortable focus. Some devastating news for Teresa (Leanne Best) challenges her friendship with Alison (Fenella Woolgar), and after Spencer's (Mike Noble) secret is revealed, Claire (Daisy Badger) must decide whether or not to stand by him. ITV.com Week 23/24 6th - 12th June 2015 Long Lost Family Wednesday 10th June, 9pm Davina McCall and Nicky Campbell continue with the new series of the BAFTA award-winning programme which aims to reunite family members after years of separation. This week’s episode tells the story of Christine Gillard, who for almost 50 years has lived with the pain of having given up her first-born daughter - not once but twice. Christine was just 16-years-old when she gave birth to her daughter, Marguerite. As a young single mother, she struggled to make ends meet and when Marguerite was two she decided that it would be in her daughter’s best interest to place her with a long-term foster family. Little did Christine know that six years later she would be offered the chance to have her daughter back. Was her choice to say goodbye for a second time the right one? Also featured is the story of 41-year-old Robert Lindsay, who is searching for the Croatian dad he has never met. Robert was raised by his mother and grandparents in Kilmarnock, Scotland. The only link Robert has ever had to his father is a letter kept by his mother when their relationship broke down - signed ‘Fool Boy’. Now, with a family of his own, Robert is aware that his father has missed out on 41 years of his life and wants to find him to make up for lost time. The Enforcers Tuesday 9th June, 9pm This two-part observational documentary series follows High Court Enforcement Officers as they go about their work, evicting unwanted tenants from their homes, offices and squats and repossessing goods. Over recent years household debt has risen to a record high, and the enforcers have never been busier. Cars, electrical goods and cash are seized and taken away, but frequently not without a struggle. The series shows the officers being verbally and physically assaulted in the line of duty. They maintain that they are carrying out an invaluable public service, claiming that if they fail to collect money owed to creditors, the knock-on effect on other businesses and the national economy in general would be serious. The series features coverage of the enforcers dealing with highly organised squatters, and the Traveller and Gypsy communities. Even though there are over 100,000 designated sites to accommodate them, the officers are frequently called in to clear them off public land. Although the series features tales of distress and hardship, the stories are told with wit, humanity and warmth. In the first episode, the enforcers are called in to evict dozens of squatters from a multimillion pound office block in the City of London, an officer in Wolverhampton is assaulted while trying to reclaim a debt, and in Dagenham, officers have to break into a restaurant and seize kitchen equipment which the owners had failed to pay for. ITV.com Week 23/24 6th - 12th June 2015 The Cube Wednesday 10th June, 8pm The award-winning game show presented by Phillip Schofield continues its ninth series as two more contestants attempt to claim the £250,000 prize money on offer to whoever can beat the Cube. To have a chance of winning the jackpot, contestants face seven random trials of skill, dexterity, reaction, wit and wisdom, all of which take place in the intense environment of the Cube. Slow-motion cameras catch the action from all angles, and the special Gamefreeze cameras make time stand still, monitoring the players Matrix-style. However, participants have some help at hand – each contestant has nine lives and can use Simplify or Trial Run once during their tests. Simplify, as its name suggests, eases the task’s difficulty, while Trial Run gives each contestant the opportunity of a practice round to get to grips with the challenge. This first of this week’s contestants is Welsh farmer Rhodri, who is hoping for a big win so that he can purchase a prize bull. Next is barista Zoe, who has her sights set on a dream holiday with her family. Olympic hero Mo Farah remains the only player in the show’s history to walk away with the big jackpot. Can either of this week’s brave players beat the Cube and take home a cool quarter of a million? Big Box Little Box Thursday 11th June, 8.30pm The brand new consumer series with an unusual twist continues this week as families from across the UK give honest, entertaining and informative reviews of products and gadgets that they have been sent to test. The six-part series takes the modern phenomenon of customer reviews to the next level by allowing viewers to see products put through their paces in the family home before being offered unvarnished opinions from the experts whose opinion counts the most – real families. Each show begins with every home receiving a mystery delivery which could contain anything from a widescreen TV to the latest spray tan. Over three days, the families go about their lives, putting the products to the test before ITV.com offering their honest opinions of what they have been sent. In an age where gadgets dominate our lives more than ever, this new format also offers a wry and warm take on how the British family copes with technology. As well as receiving impartial consumer reviews, the viewer is also allowed an amusing peek into people’s homes as they grapple with innovation and attempt to get to grips with the latest products on the market. This week, the families try out a home spa and test drive the latest in go-karts, while the men find out if a slimming vest will give them a six-pack. Do these products really make life easier and live up to their claims? 6th - 12th June 2015 Week 23/24 Vicious Monday 8th June, 9pm The unashamedly wicked sitcom about the elderly warring gay couple who have shared a rented London flat for nearly half a century continues its second series. Starring two knights of stage and screen, Sir Ian McKellen and Sir Derek Jacobi, the plot follows the twilight years of over-the-hill actor Freddie - whose only claim to fame seems to be that he once played a villain in Dr Who - and former bar manager Stuart as they spend their time reading, checking on whether the dog is still alive and snapping at each other across their threadbare sofa. There is also the off-screen presence of Stuart’s mother Mildred, who truly believed that he and Freddie were no more than just flatmates until the end of series one. They are often joined by the eternally young-at-heart maneater Violet (Frances de la Tour), who does her best to keep the pair from each other’s throats, dizzy Penelope (Marcia Warren), with whom Stuart once had a very brief affair, grumpy Mason (Philip Voss) and their young neighbour upstairs Ash (Iwan Rheon). In episode two, Freddie and Stuart decide to do something about their lack of fitness and join Ash at his gym, where the instructor persuades them to sign up for a hideously expensive course. With the couple starting to spend so much time working out, Violet and Penelope discover how much more pleasant the flat can be without the constant bickering. With Jack Ashton as Theo. The French Open 2015 * Saturday 6th June, 1.30pm and Sunday 7th June, 3.10pm For the fourth year, ITV is showing live coverage from the Stade Roland Garros in Paris of both women’s and men’s finals on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June. Last year, Rafael Nadal won the men’s title for the ninth time and Maria Sharapova took her second women’s crown. For British fans, Andy Murray is a real contender for victory this year and is currently showing his best ever form on clay, winning his first tournament on this surface in Germany and following it up by beating Nadal for the first time on clay to take victory in the Madrid Open. The Madrid win certainly silenced the critics who had disparaged his female coach Amelie Mauresmo, a former Wimbledon ITV.com champion, as being not up to the job of coaching a man. However, the favourite will be Novak Djokovic (pictured), who has been the world number one ranked player for two and a half years and will need no motivation as the French Open is the only grand slam title he has not won. With Rafael Nadal not quite at his best, Djokovic will certainly fancy his chances this year. The women’s final is more unpredictable than the men’s, which is dominated by the top four, but Sharapova will be out to defend her title, while last year’s runner-up Simona Halep and Serena Williams are likely to figure in the later stages. Week 23/24 6th - 12th June 2015 UEFA Champions League Final: Barcelona v Juventus Saturday 6th June, 7pm Mark Pougatch and the team present live coverage of this season’s Champions League Final between Barcelona and Juventus from the Olympiastadion in Berlin. Barcelona will certainly start as favourites after ending Bayern Munich’s dream of reaching the final held in their own country with a convincing 5-3 aggregate win in the semi-final. Barcelona have won the Champions League four times, most recently in 2011 under head coach Pep Guardiola when they were on an incredible run of form. After Guardiola they lost their invincible tag, but this season Luis Enrique returned to the club as head coach and with Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar as strikers, the team are almost back to their best. Italian champions Juventus have won the trophy twice before, most recently in 1996, but they surprised Real Madrid in the semi-final, dashing Spanish fans’ hopes for a Classico final. Head coach Massimiliano Allegri has maintained the Italian tradition of concentrating on a secure defence, with veteran goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon a solid presence between the posts. The Champions League winner’s medal is the only piece of silverware missing from his collection. Giorgio Chiellini, Leonardo Bonucci and ex-Manchester United star Patrice Evra are all top-rated defenders, while the wily Andrea Pirlo is the midfield general. But will Juve manage to keep Lionel Messi and company quiet for 90 minutes? Sunday Night at the Palladium Sunday 7th June, 8pm ITV’s revived entertainment classic concludes its second series this week with a fifth and final helping of variety and good old-fashioned entertainment, 60 years since the show was first televised. The brand new one-hour shows have seen some of the UK’s top comics and entertainers taking over hosting duties to welcome big stars from the worlds of music and comedy on to one of the world’s most famous stages. There have also been some jaw-dropping variety acts and a host of surprises for members of the 2,000-strong audience. The final show this series is hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall, who introduces music performances from Simply Red as they celebrate 30 years together, fresh-faced singer ITV.com Jess Glynne, who performs her recent chart-topper Hold My Hand, and Leona Lewis, who returns to the pop scene with her new single Fire Under My Feet. Variety acts include the incredible Japanese dance troupe EL Squad from The Wrecking Crew Orchestra, and American champion knife thrower Jack Dagger and his assistant The Unkillable Jenny, who showcase their skills and teach Jack a few tricks. Finally, stand-up comedy comes from the hilarious Sara Pascoe and former Britain’s Got Talent finalist Jack Carroll, who at just 16 years old may be about to give compere Jack a run for his money! Week 23/24 6th - 12th June 2015 Love Island Sunday 7th - Thursday 11th June, 9pm ITV2 is set for a summer of romance as the classic reality series Love Island returns with a brand new look, this time presented by Strictly Come Dancing champion and new X Factor co-host Caroline Flack. Caroline will preside over the ultimate game of love as a set of stunning singles jet off to sun-kissed Majorca in search of passion and romance. The original series featured a host of celebrities, but this time glamorous members of the public will instead live like celebrities in a plush villa, with viewers privy to all the fun and flirtation that ensues. There will be lots of fun in the sun, but in order to remain in their paradise, the singles will have to win the hearts of the public. The audience at home has the power to determine who stays and who goes, until just one couple remain. Caroline will catch up with each of the departing cast members as the public decides it is time for them to leave the island for good. Will any real connections be made or will the pairings turn out to be nothing more than holiday flings? ITV2 is the only place to find outL The Vampire Diaries Wednesday 10th June, 10.50pm The sixth season of the US supernatural drama series continues this week on ITV2. Co-created by teen drama king Kevin Williamson (Scream, Dawson’s Creek) and based on novels by LJ Smith, the series tells the story of Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev), a resident of the small town of Mystic Falls, Virginia. When she falls in love with a centuries-old vampire named Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), she is pulled into a dark underworld of vampires, werewolves and other supernatural goings-on. Elena’s ongoing attraction to Stefan’s dark, brooding brother Damon (Ian Somerhalder) has only added to the teen’s problems. In this week’s episode, entitled Because, Damon ponders what life would be like if he and Elena were not vampires. Meanwhile, attempts to stop a humanity-free Caroline (Candice Accola) do not go as planned, and when Bonnie (Kat Graham) discovers that Damon has betrayed her trust, she takes matters into her own hands, setting off a chain of events that leaves Damon dealing with the fallout. Elsewhere, after being forced to face his traumatic past, Enzo (Michael Malarkey) sets out for answers and is surprised when he learns the truth about the day he was turned into a vampire. ITV.com Week 23/24 6th - 12th June 2015 The Real Housewives of New Jersey Thursday 11th June, 10pm ITVBe continues arguably the most tension-packed and dramatic instalment of the ever-popular Real Housewives... franchise, heading to America’s north east coast to catch up with the affluent and glamorous garden state residents in the fifth season of The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Juggling their various home and business interests, charity work and media appearances, the ladies are no strangers to the drama, decadence and spectacular showdowns which the various series have become famous for. This season has been no different, with family feuds aplenty, cat fights galore and various brushes with the law ensuring another explosive and compelling run of shows. This week’s episode is part two of the current season’s reunion shows, in which US TV host Andy Cohen attempts to keep the ladies in one room long enough to thrash out their differences and take a look back at the events of the past series. Topics include the feud between Melissa and Teresa (pictured), the group’s drama-filled trips to Lake George and Arizona and the indictment charges facing Teresa and Joe, which could result in one or both of them going to jail. With some rather serious subject matter on the table, will Andy manage to keep the peace, or will there be fisticuffs and further feuding as the wives and their husbands face off for the final time this series? Regular viewers of the show will probably know the answer to that question! Afterlife * Friday 12th June, 10pm Another chance to see this six-part drama series starring Lesley Sharp and Andrew Lincoln, and created by Stephen Volk (Ghostwatch), about a woman with psychic powers and the academic who becomes involved with her. In the first episode, More Than Meets the Eye, psychology lecturer and psychic mediums specialist Robert Bridge (Lincoln) decides to take his students to a clairvoyance evening where he meets troubled psychic Alison Mundy (Sharp). Robert is deeply sceptical of psychics and their abilities, but he soon realises that Alison is a far cry from the fraudulent psychics that he is used to. Ever since she was a child Alison has seen spirits, and after a near-death experience they are beginning to take over her life. She moved to Bristol in an attempt to start afresh, but the move has not worked out, and as she lies awake at night Alison cannot escape the voices that cry out to her. When Alison’s readings provoke an adverse reaction in one of Robert’s students, he begins to study her with the intention of writing a book about her. But Robert is completely thrown when Alison claims to see the spirit of his own dead son Josh, who was killed in a car accident four years earlier. ITV.com Week 23/24 6th - 12th June 2015 Cycling: Criterium du Dauphine Live * Monday 8th - Friday 12th June, times vary This week ITV4 continues its commitment to cycling with live coverage of the 67th Criterium du Dauphine. Like many of these classic French races, this 8-stage annual event has a long history going back to 1947. It takes place in the hilly and mountainous region of Dauphine in southern France and is seen as ideal preparation for the following month’s Tour de France – Bradley Wiggins and Chris Froome both won Dauphine the month before their successes in the Tour. This is certainly not one for the sprinters but is seen as an ideal workout for the climbers. Wiggins is not Jordskott competing this year but Froome is certain to be in the mix, hopefully along with Tour favourites including defending champion Vincenzo Nibali and last year’s Vuelta winner Alberto Contador. Unfortunately, both these big names have recently been in the news for the wrong reasons. Contador was involved in a very bad crash in this year’s Giro D’Italia, dislocating his shoulder, and Nibali’s team Astana have been threatened with closure by the UCI after doping allegations. Hopefully both will be available Wednesday 10th June, 10pm for this highlight of the cycling calendar. Gary Imlach and Chris Boardman are in the studio, with commentary provided by Ned Boulting and analysis from the recently retired British cycling ace David Millar. Matt Rendell is the man down at the roadside with the microphone. This critically acclaimed ten-part Nordic mystery thriller, making its UK premiere on ITV Encore, is set deep in the ancient forests of Sweden. Seven years after the disappearance of her daughter Josefine, police investigator Eva Thornblad (Moa Gammel, pictured right) is still trying to come to terms with her grief and gnawing sense of loss. At the time it was widely believed that Josefine drowned in the nearby Silverhojd Lake, but Eva knows in her heart that someone took her child on that fateful day. Old wounds are reopened as a young boy goes missing in the Silverhojd forest. Taking part in the search for the missing child, she soon finds herself revisiting the dark mystery which still haunts her. As she is drawn into the investigation, she learns that there are much deeper and more evil forces at work than anyone could imagine – but how far is she prepared to go to protect the one she loves? Convinced that the same person is responsible for the abductions of the boy and Josefine, she is shaken when she comes across a sick and mute girl in a road through the forest in the middle of the night – a girl who distinctly resembles her daughter. Also starring Goran Ragnerstam as Goran Wass, Richard Forsgren as Tom Aronsson, Lia Boysen as Gerda Gunnarsson and Ville Virtanen as Harry Storm. ITV.com 6th - 12th June 2015 Week 23/24 The Lost Honour of Christopher Jeffries Saturday 6th June, 9pm ITV Encore presents another chance to see the two-part drama written by screenwriter Peter Morgan which recently won two BAFTA awards – best mini-series and best actor – and is based on the true story of how retired schoolteacher Christopher Jefferies was vilified for a murder that he did not commit. When Greg Reardon (Matthew Barker) returned from a weekend away to the flat in Bristol he shared with his girlfriend Joanna Yeates (Carla Turner) to find no sign of her, he contacted the police. It was just before Christmas 2010, and the case of the missing landscape artist soon became headline news. Christopher Jefferies (Jason Watkins) was Greg and Jo’s landlord and also lived in the same block. When Jo’s body was found in the snow on Christmas Day, he was questioned by the police. Jefferies was later arrested on suspicion of murder, but despite the lack of evidence against him, the tabloid press and TV news channels pounced and named him. His face was splashed all over the front pages of the newspapers as if he had already been tried and found guilty and he was the subject of a number of defamatory articles. Jefferies was released on bail after a few days, but it was not until January 20 that another tenant in the same building, Vincent Tabak (Joe Sims), was arrested and charged with Jo’s murder. Tabak was eventually found guilty in October. After being hung out to dry by the press, the last thing Jefferies wanted was to step back into the limelight. But as it became apparent that his life would not return to normal, he embarked on a fight to clear his name once and for all. Pokemon the Series: XY Monday 8th June, 5pm The 18th series of the popular Japanese animation about the Pokemon - or ‘pocket monsters’ in Japanese - continues with a brand new episode this week. Again the protagonist is Ash Ketchum, who is accompanied by his Pikachu as they travel through the Kalos Region looking to make new friends, find new Pokemon to capture and seek out new rivals to take on in battle. With their companions Clermont (the secret Leader of Lumiose City Gym), Clermont’s younger sister Bonnie, and Ash’s childhood friend Serena, their ultimate goal is to compete in the famous Kalos League. This series, Serena has an ambition of her own to become a fully-fledged Pokemon Performer. This week’s episode is The Green, ITV.com Green Grass Types of Home. It is time for Ash’s Coumarine City Gym battle with Ramos, the Super Gym Leader, and our hero cannot wait to get started. But Ramos is in no hurry and invites the gang to tea before asking them for some help tending his garden! When battle commences, Ash’s Fletchinder takes down Jumpluff and Ash thinks he has the advantage, but Ramos’s Weepinbell unleashes a Poison Powder and quickly defeats Fletchinder and Hawlucha. Ash retaliates, sending out the water-type Frogadier with instructions to use its Frubbles as a protective mask. Will Ash’s plan work and win him the Plant Badge?
