Mr Selfridge Sunday 1st February, 9pm The period drama about the life of Harry Gordon Selfridge, the flamboyant and charismatic but ultimately vulnerable American entrepreneur who founded the world-famous department store on Oxford Street, continues its third series. The opening of Selfridges in 1909 marked a revolution in retailing in an era which saw a seismic shift in the social order. Class distinctions were becoming blurred, American heiresses were saving the ancient English nobility and women everywhere were demanding their rights. Their investigation saw many townspeople come under suspicion, including Danny’s father Mark (Andrew Buchan), but after many twists and turns, the revelation of the killer’s identity had far-reaching consequences, not least for the two detectives. Along with Tennant, Colman and Buchan, Jodie Whittaker returns as Beth Latimer and Arthur Darvill as the Reverend Paul Coates, while the second series sees Charlotte Rampling, Marianne Jean-Baptiste, Eve Myles and James D’Arcy join the cast.
