Checking the menu, a restaurant customer ordered
a bowl of vegetable soup. After a couple of spoonfuls, he saw a circle of wetness right under the bowl
on the tablecloth. He called the waitress over and
said, "It's all wet down here. The bowl must be
cracked." The waitress said, "You ordered vegetable
soup, maybe it has a leek in it."

A couple decide to go for a meal on their
anniversary and after some deliberation decide on their local Chinese restaurant. They
peruse the menu and finally agree to share
the chef’s special chicken surprise. The waiter
brings over the meal, served in a lidded castiron pot. Just as the wife is about to start on
the meal, the lid of the pot rises a tiny
amount and she briefly sees two beady little
eyes looking around before the lid slams back
down. ‘Did you see that?’ she asks her husband. He hasn’t so she asks him to look in
the pot. He reaches for it and again the lid
rises, and he sees two beady little eyes looking
around before it firmly slams back down.
Rather perturbed, he calls the waiter over,
explains what is happening and demands an
explanation. ‘Well, sir,’ says the waiter. ‘What
did you order?’ ‘We both chose the same,’ he
replies. ‘The chicken surprise.’ ‘Oh, I do
apologize, this is my fault,’ says the waiter.
‘I’ve brought you the Peking duck.’

A private school was recently faced with a unique
problem. A number of 12-year-old girls were beginning
to use lipstick and would put it on in the bathroom. That
was fine, but after they put on their lip stick, they would
press their lips to the mirror leaving dozens of little lip
prints. Every night the maintenance man would remove them, and the next day the girls would put them
back. Finally the principal decided that something had
to be done. She called all the girls to the bathroom and
met them there with the maintenance man. She explained that all these lip prints were causing a major
problem for the custodian who had to clean the mirrors
every night. To demonstrate how difficult it had been
to clean the mirrors, she asked the maintenance man
to show the girls how much effort was required. He
took out a long-handled squeegee, dipped it in the
toilet, and cleaned the mirror with it. Since then, there
have been no lip prints on the mirror. There are teachers... and then there are educators.

Position racks in upper and lower thirds of oven; preheat to 450. Place squash cut side down in a microwave-safe dish, add water. Microwave uncovered on
high until tender, about 10 minutes. Heat oil in large
skillet over medium heat. Add broccolini, garlic and red
pepper, cook, stirring for 2 minutes. Add water and
cook until tender. Use a fork to scrape the squash
from the shells into a bowl. Add veg mixture to
squash. Stir in 3/4 cup mozzarella, 2 tbsp. Parmesan,
Italian seasoning, S and P and put into squash shells.
Top with remaining cheeses. Place on lower rack for
10 minutes. Move to upper rack, turn the broiler to
high and broil, watching carefully, until cheese starts to
brown—about 2 minutes.

A new business was opening and one of the owner’s friends wanted to send him flowers for the
occasion. The flowers arrived at the new business site and the owner read the card: “Rest in
Pace.” The owner was annoyed and called to complain. “Sir, I’m really sorry for the mistake,
and sorry you were offended.” said the florist. “But even worse, somewhere there is a funeral
taking place today, and they received flowers with a note saying, ‘Congratulations on your new
location.’”

USE ICE (In Case of Emergency)
YOUR CELL PHONE AS AN EMERGENCY LIFELINE
Your cell phone can be a lifeline during
times of crisis. At the touch of a button it
can be used to call 911 or the police. At the
scene of an accident, first responders or rescue services are making life-and-death decisions. They arrive and want to treat you
quickly and also notify your family or friends.
It would be useful to know which of the
numbers stored in your cell phone can be
used to quickly reach your key contacts and
next of kin. Consider making their job easier by adding an entry under the label ICE
with the names and phone numbers of people that should be called in case of an accident or injury. Simply put the acronym ICE
before the names you want to designate as
key contacts — creating entries such as ICEI,
ICE2 and ICE3 etc. By adopting the “ICE
advice” your cell phone may help emergency
and rescue services quickly contact a relative
or friend — which could be vital in a life or
death situation. It only takes a few seconds to
do. Responders at the scene will now know
right away who to notify. Thanks Nora.
