Purpose: The purpose of Passport to Learning for Title I students is to enhance skills needed in

Summer School Guidelines:
1. Student slots have been predetermined and
allocated to each campus.
2. Student selection criteria is based on DRA reading
levels, benchmarks, common assessments, and
STAAR results.
3. Students who miss more than three days will be
withdrawn from the program.
4. A report card will be issued at the end of the
program to communicate progress.
5. The determination of whether a student passes to
the next grade is determined by the home campus.
6. Students will be properly dressed and groomed
according to the standards of the regular school
term.
7. CISD Code of Conduct rules will apply.

through the Community Summer Feeding Program in which
neighborhood children are invited to breakfast and lunch on

5th Grade Reading Camp – Student Success Initiative
Reading Grade 5
Purpose: The purpose of Reading Camp is to provide an intensive, targeted reading intervention
for fifth grade students needing to take the third administration of Reading STAAR on June 23, 2015.
This four and one-half hour model focuses on best practices in reading intervention and all the
components of CISD READS. Whole group and small group instruction, along with individual
intervention, will take place daily. Ongoing assessment will provide continuous monitoring of
student progress.

1. Students are required by TEA to receive an intensive, targeted reading intervention program
prior to taking the third administration of the Grade 5 Reading STAAR on June 23, 2015.
2. Students eligible for Reading Camp are provided reading intervention prior to taking the third
reading STAAR test.
3. Students will be properly dressed and groomed according to the standards of the regular
school term.

Special Education - Elementary and Secondary
Extended School Year Services (ESY)
Purpose: Extended School Year Services (ESY) are provided under the provision of educational
services beyond the regular school year, designed to minimize the loss of acquired critical skills of
students with disabilities who have demonstrated significant regression/recoupment problems.
This service is based on the identified needs of individual students. The ARD Committee considers
the need for ESY services annually.
