Mother’s Day Stall The P & C holds a Mother’s Day Stall every year for the children to purchase Mum, Grandparent or Carer, a gift for Mother’s Day. The P & C does not make much profit on this occasion and it is offered as a service for the children to have an opportunity to buy something for the important person in their life. The children look forward to this event with great enthusiasm for the chance to be able to get something for their mum or carer, to show they care. Gift prices range from $1.50 to $12.00. The Mother’s Day stall will be on Thursday 7th May. (Week 3 Term 2). Interviews will take place on Monday 4/5 & Tuesday 5/5 from 3 – 7pm. Class teachers will communicate with you so you can book in a time. Teachers will ensure that all parents have the opportunity to come in and have an interview so if these dates and times don’t suit you, let your child’s teacher know and arrange another suitable time. I strongly encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to discuss your child’s learning and behaviour in the class setting. One of the most important factors in optimising your child/ren’s learning is to have positive, open communication between you their parents and their teachers. Watch our School Headlice Alert Over the coming 2 week Easter break, please keep an eye on our school. Our grounds are only used on holidays and weekends with written permission from the school. Cleaning and administration staff will work periodically during the 2 week holiday break & YMCA will be running a Vacation Care Program. If you see anything suspicious at our school, please call School Watch on 131788. LOOK LISTEN REPORT -4- We have had a couple of reports of headlice. Please be vigilant, check your children’s hair and treat immediately. While this is a very annoying and often expensive problem to deal with, please don’t take it personally. It has nothing to do with personal or household hygiene. DEPUTY’S DEN Behaviour Committee At the end of 2014 Canungra State School went through a Behaviour Audit. This was a process whereby a visiting Education Queensland Principal analysed our processes and policies in regards to behaviour and advised us on our strengths and areas of development. The results were extremely positive and the profile and summary can be viewed on our website. One of the recommendations was to develop a Behaviour Committee to continue developing our behaviour processes and this Committee has now met for the second time this term. We have started by looking at the next recommendation from the Audit which stated – Develop a small number of school rules that align with the schools values and expectations. The Committee looked at aligning these school rules with our motto, “Aim High” and ensuring we developed a small number of clear rules that provides consistency in language, consistency in what to teach, consistency in what to recognise and consistency in what to correct. Happy Holidays I would like to thank all students, parents and staff for a great Term 1. Please stay safe over the holidays and we look forward to seeing you all next term.
