Environmental Designer/Project Architect, ATL

Position description
ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGNER/PROJECT ARCHITECT
Second Story is a network of design studios that focuses on responsive environments, story-‐driven experiences, experimentation, and innovation. For more than 20 years, we have conceptualized, designed, and developed projects that educate, immerse, and activate across the cultural and brand space. Our studio is interdisciplinary and intensely collaborative, founded on the desire to make great work through collective authorship.
We are seeking an experienced environmental designer/project architect (ED/PA) to conceive, develop,
and detail complex multidisciplinary projects across diverse physical environments. At Second Story,
we explore the boundaries between the built environment and technology—we are an
interdisciplinary design studio rather than an architecture office. This is an exceptional opportunity for
a rewarding career path outside of the traditional architectural environment. The role offers a direct
and palpable opportunity to transform the audience experience through diverse projects for influential
cultural institutions and brands.
The ED/PA will be responsible for the execution of individual projects as well as the maintenance and
evolution of our documentation and construction administration standards, helping us to actively
evolve the emerging practice of integrated media environment design. The ED/PA will be accustomed
to working in blended teams, will understand that our work relies on the collaborative expertise of
architects, engineers, graphic and motion designers, experience designers, developers, content
specialists, and producers, and will be capable of adapting architectural project standards to broader,
more complex environments. We are interested in candidates with a diverse career path and a
portfolio that showcases individual strengths and interests alongside successfully delivered projects.
