How it works
Points you earn
To earn Vitality fitness points for your exercise sessions, you have to exercise at or above a specific
intensity for at least 30 minutes a session, a day. Different activity devices collect different data about
your exercise session. The tables below explain what you will need to do to earn Vitality points
depending on the type of data your device collects. The tables also show the Vitality points you will
earn when you exercise at the required intensity.
You can earn 150 Vitality points for one exercise session a day if you achieve the requirements set
out in the tables below during your workout. You can also earn a possible 50 bonus points, depending
on your heart rate or calories burned and the duration of your workout.

OR
At least 30 minutes of physical activity in one exercise
session at a minimum average speed of 7.2 kilometres

OR
At least 60 minutes of physical activity in one exercise

Please note: You can earn Vitality fitness points for meeting the requirements for heart rate data or
speed data or calorie data, depending on the data that your device collects. Each adult can earn up to
15 000 Vitality fitness points and another 24 000 bonus fitness points each year.
Points will only be awarded for one fitness activity a day. If you complete two fitness activities in one
day, then the higher points between the two will be awarded.
Points may take up to two weeks to show on your Vitality Points Monitor after you have uploaded
your data on Vitality or on the website of your chosen device.
Example: John buys a Timex heart rate monitor that can be linked to Vitality. His device
collects heart rate, speed and calorie data. John takes part in a minimum of 30 minutes of
physical activity in one exercise session a day. He exercises at an average heart rate of more
than 60% of his age-related maximum heart rate and burns a minimum of 150 calories (at a
rate of no fewer than 300 calories an hour). He uploads his exercise data to Vitality.
John will earn 150 points a day for his exercise session for meeting one of the requirements
from either his heart rate data or speed data or calorie data.
How to calculate your target heart rate
To calculate your age-related maximum heart rate, take 220 and subtract your age. For example, if
you are 30 years old, take 220 - 30 = 190 (your maximum heart rate).
Example: John is 30 years old. This means his maximum age-related heart rate is 190 beats a minute
(220 - 30). As a result, John must keep his average heart rate above 114 beats a minute (60% of his
maximum age-related heart rate) during his 30 minute exercise session to earn 150 Vitality points.
If John keeps his heart rate above 133 beats a minute (70% of his maximum age-related heart rate),
he will earn the 150 Vitality points plus an extra 50 bonus points.
How to calculate your Vitality points
 To earn Vitality fitness points for your workouts with a Timex fitness device, you will need to
exercise at 60% or 70% of your age-related maximum heart rate for at least 30 minutes.
 If your heart rate data is not available, we will award your Vitality points based on your
accumulated energy expenditure (calorie) information.
 Only one 30 minute session each day will earn you Vitality points.
Ending the benefit
If your Vitality membership ends, you may no longer earn Vitality points with your Timex
fitness device. However, you may continue to use your Timex device to track your workouts
as a Vitality guest.
