How-To: Print Personalized Booklets using PPML format
Feature Overview
PPML was designed to support efficient job resources re-use. In allowing the printer to know early on which
fonts, logos, diagrams, images or other resources are needed at a particular point in the job, the system can
rasterize that resource a single time and use it as many times as needed, without redundant processing.
PPML compliance in Fiery servers enables the user to RIP and print jobs using the PPML language format for
variable data printing.
Variable data languages such as PPML allow documents to be produced that are different page lengths for
each record. Using Fiery Impose, these jobs can be printed as booklets automatically. The personalized
booklets vary in page quantity and Fiery Impose adjusts the booklet layout based on the individual page
count.
Customer Benefits
•
Offers open VDP implementation, ensuring compatibility in all VDP workflows and complete flexibility.
•
Consistent Fiery workflow interface greatly reduces training curve for existing Fiery users, leading to
fast adoption and higher productivity.
•
The Preview function allows the user to proof and examine the actual output, ensuring proper output
and reducing spoilage.
•
The VDP Control Strip helps identify a spoiled sheet, which reduces waste and improves turnaround
time.
•
User can apply media types such as covers and apply finishing to the VDP records. This feature
increases automation of the output process and reduces the number of manual off-line steps in
production.
Objectives of the Exercise
•
Import a PPML Job
•
Apply Booklet Imposition to the PPML Job
•
