AEPA vs. NES...What is the NES? In an effort to nationally standardized Highly Qualified tests for teachers, the once popular Arizona Educator Proficiency Assessments (AEPA) has now been replaced by the multi -state recognized National Evaluation Series Test (NES). This allows teachers the ability to move between states without the need to continually prove academic content or highly qualified status. Furthermore, the test has contem- porary content, is 100% computer based testing, and more expedient results. For more information on the NES test, you may go to: nestest.com PAGE 2 What do I do when my fingerprint card is expiring? Every six years, the required IVP fingerprint card expires. Approximately 2 months prior to expiration, (i.e. 6 years after issue date), contact Edna Solares in the HR Department, ext. 1007, as she has the proper forms. The process takes approximately 10 minutes and can be done at the Sahuarita Police Department, which is lo- cated directly across from the main campus, at: 375 W. Sahuarita Center Way, Sahuarita, AZ 85629. If you are resident of Sahuarita, the fee to collect finger prints is $3 cash, and $5 cash if you are a nonresident. You will also need a check or money order in the amount of $67 made out to “DPS” when you go to roll your prints. The Sahuarita Police Department will then send in your application and money order for you. Please be sure to keep for the yellow carbon copy of your application to give to HR for our records! ACT NOW get your Early Childhood Endorsement NOW is the best time to obtain your early childhood endorsement. In light of feedback from the field regarding a shortage of Kindergarten teachers, the Arizona Department of Education is temporarily reinstating the Early Childhood Rule that allows teachers to qualify for the Early Childhood endorsement with three years full-time teaching experience in grades Birth-Grade 3 and a passing score on the Early Childhood Subject Knowledge exam. Individuals who do not have three years of full time teaching experience prior to July 1, 2012 will only be able to apply under this option until October 1, 2014. Ext. 1007 Dana Burke 2nd Grade Teacher, SPS Two Teachers, Two TOP State Recognitions Sahuarita Primary School teacher, Dayna Burke, has been named a Top 5 Finalist, Ambassador for Excellence/ Arizona Teacher of the Year finalist recognition. Mrs. Burke will attend the November 14th Arizona Educational Foundation luncheon for a special presentation, where the Ari- Nataly Van Alstine, PE Teacher, ATS SUSD HR NEWS zona Teacher of the Year is announced. Congratulations and Good Luck Mrs. Burke! Anza Trail's Physical Education teacher, Nataly Van Alstine, was awarded the Arizona Health and Physical Educa- tion Association Teacher of the Year Award. Ms. Van Alstine was recognized at the Arizona Health and Physical Education State Convention at the Phoenix Convention Center on October 18th. Congratulations Ms. Van Alstine!
