when possible, how long you will be hospitalized. If you are
unable to attend Mass, due to poor health, illness or advanced
age, please call so a Eucharistic Minister can bring Communion
to you. Anointing of the Sick may be requested because of
scheduled surgery or treatment for a life-threatening illness. Call
us prior to your surgery or treatment. Anointing of the Sick at
Mass may be celebrated before you go into the hospital. Directly
inform one of our priests or leave this information on Ext.44

REGISTRATION FOR ENGLISH THROUGH MUSIC will take place at Saint
Athanasius Rectory, located at 2154 61 Street, during office hours on December
1,2,3,6,7,2004. For more information please call Sister Kathleen at 7128-2363000. The classes are for beginners and low intermediate. There will be 10
classes on Saturdays from 11:00a.m. to 1:30p.m. The tuition for the class is $65.
The class dates are as follows: Dec. 11, 18, 2004 and Jan. 8, 15, 22, 29, Feb., 5,
12, 19, 26, 2005. Please encourage your friends and family who need to learn
English to take the course. The English tech is a musician and story teller.

Dec. 4 & 5th in the Upper & Lower Church Narthex. Just in time to buy great
Catholic books for Christmas presents.
CHRISTMAS HARP CONCERT, SUNDAY DEC. 5 at 4p.m. in the UPPER
CHURCH with “Tutti Harps,” which consists of about a dozen harpist. This
concert consists of Christmas pieces for harp & includes a sing-a-long of
Christmas Carols. Come & hear a truly unique musical sound! A free will
offering will be taken!

Riflessione del mese di Novembre
Mese dedicato alle anime dei defunti
UNA BUONA MORTE - Con la morte inizia la vera vita, quella
che non avra’ fine; la morte segna il passaggio dal tempo
all’eternita’. Per il cristiano fare una buona morte e’ molto
importante. Chi si stacca da questo mondo e muore unito a Dio
nella carita’ e nella grazia, puo’ ritenersi meritevole di aver
ricevuto il grande dono della felicita’ eterna. Percio’ ogni cristiano
deve adeguarsi, desiderare, chiedere al Signore una buona morte
ed e’ bene che sappia anche come deve comportarsi in quel
momento. Bisogna chiedere fermamente perdono di tutti i propri
peccati invocando la misericordia di Dio. E’ molto importante
avere un sacerdote accanto in quei momenti estremi perche la
penitenza ricostruisce e rinnova la vita spirituale. Comunque si
possono salvare anche coloro che muoino all’improvviso o senza
il conforto dei Sacramenti.
Dobbiamo raccomandarci alla
Madonna che e’ rifugio dei peccatori e aiuto dei cristiani. Chi si
rivolge a Lei con animo pentito, certamente non sara’
abbandonato. San Bernardo nella sua piu’ bella preghiera rivolta
alla Vergine, prega cosi’: “Ricordati, Maria, che non si e’ mai
sentito dire che qualcuno abbia chiesto il tuo soccorso e sia stato
abbandonato....” ESEMPIO Il 3 giugno del 1963 Giovanni XXIII
lasciava per sempre questa terra. La sua morte esemplare
richiamo’ il popolo di Dio a riflettere sul fine della vita: si deve
vivere e morire per la gloria di Dio. Papa Giovanni insegno’ a
morire, a unirsi alle sofferenze di Cristo, insegno’ a desiderare la
casa del Padre, la vera dimora di ogni creatura. Quando si rivolse
ai suoi fratelli, disse loro di non piangere perche’ stava per
incontrarsi con il suo papa’ e la sua mamma i fratelli e sorelle che
l’avevano preceduti. Negli ultimi giorni di vita disse: “Non vi
preoccupate di me perche’ le valigie sono pronte; io sono pronto,
anzi prontissimo a partire”. Le sue ultime parole pronunciate
nell’agonia finale furono: “ Soffro con dolore, ma con amore”;
“con la morte comincia una nuova vita e chi muore vive
eternamente”. O Signore, come sono belle la fede, la sicurezza
e la pace di Papa Giovanni. OFFERTA O Signore, insegnaci a
pregare e donaci quella fede sicura che sorreggeva Papa
Giovanni. PREGHIERA Santa Maria, Madre di Dio, prega per
noi peccatori adesso e nell’ora della nostra morte. Amen!

preghiere in Inglese, Italiano e Spagnolo. Le guide di
questo giorno di preghiera includono Suor Mary Claire
Rhatigan, O.P., il Signor Jeff Smith (Inglese), il
Diacono Dante Colandrea (Italiano) e Jennifer
Compton (Spagnolo). Si terranno 2 colloqui, la
Preghiera Di Mezzogiorno, Vespi, e L’Adorazione del
Santissimo Sacramento. Seguira’ il pranzo e uno
spazio di tempo per poter conoscere e far amicizia
con gli altri partecipanti. L’offerta è di $20 a persona.
Abbiamo bisogno di un minimo di 50 partecipanti e i
posti sono limitati. Dato che nello stesso giorno ci
sara’ un concerto Natalizio con inizio alle 6 di sera e
per dar modo a coloro che volessero partecipare al
giorno di preghiera, possono lasciare alle 6 invece
delle 7 per avere cosi’,la possibilita di godersi anche
lo spettacolo. Per l’iscrizione al giorno di
preghiera,per favore, disponete la vostra offerta in

ALBERI DI NATALE – La tradizione continua qui a
Sant’Atanasio! Come ogni anno vi ricordiamo che durante
l’Avvento il giardino intorno alla nostra chiesa sara’ preparato con
dei belli alberi natalizi che potete dedicare in memoria di un vostro
defunto. Gli alberi sono preparati con luci natalizie e accesi
durante una cerimonia Sabato 18 Dicembre dopo la Messa delle
5:30pm. L’offerta e’ di $300 dollari. Per ulteriori informazione
diciembre, desde las 11:30a.m. hasta las 7p.m.,
aquí en la Iglesia San Atanasio. Las oraciones
serán celebradas en Español, Inglés e Italiano. Dos
charlas y una discusión en grupo serán dadas
