ATHANASIUS CHURCH Dal nostro DIACONO DANTE COLANDREA Riflessione del mese di Novembre Mese dedicato alle anime dei defunti UNA BUONA MORTE - Con la morte inizia la vera vita, quella che non avra’ fine; la morte segna il passaggio dal tempo all’eternita’. Per il cristiano fare una buona morte e’ molto importante. Chi si stacca da questo mondo e muore unito a Dio nella carita’ e nella grazia, puo’ ritenersi meritevole di aver ricevuto il grande dono della felicita’ eterna. Percio’ ogni cristiano deve adeguarsi, desiderare, chiedere al Signore una buona morte ed e’ bene che sappia anche come deve comportarsi in quel momento. Bisogna chiedere fermamente perdono di tutti i propri peccati invocando la misericordia di Dio. E’ molto importante avere un sacerdote accanto in quei momenti estremi perche la penitenza ricostruisce e rinnova la vita spirituale. Comunque si possono salvare anche coloro che muoino all’improvviso o senza il conforto dei Sacramenti. Dobbiamo raccomandarci alla Madonna che e’ rifugio dei peccatori e aiuto dei cristiani. Chi si rivolge a Lei con animo pentito, certamente non sara’ abbandonato. San Bernardo nella sua piu’ bella preghiera rivolta alla Vergine, prega cosi’: “Ricordati, Maria, che non si e’ mai sentito dire che qualcuno abbia chiesto il tuo soccorso e sia stato abbandonato....” ESEMPIO Il 3 giugno del 1963 Giovanni XXIII lasciava per sempre questa terra. La sua morte esemplare richiamo’ il popolo di Dio a riflettere sul fine della vita: si deve vivere e morire per la gloria di Dio. Papa Giovanni insegno’ a morire, a unirsi alle sofferenze di Cristo, insegno’ a desiderare la casa del Padre, la vera dimora di ogni creatura. Quando si rivolse ai suoi fratelli, disse loro di non piangere perche’ stava per incontrarsi con il suo papa’ e la sua mamma i fratelli e sorelle che l’avevano preceduti. Negli ultimi giorni di vita disse: “Non vi preoccupate di me perche’ le valigie sono pronte; io sono pronto, anzi prontissimo a partire”. Le sue ultime parole pronunciate nell’agonia finale furono: “ Soffro con dolore, ma con amore”; “con la morte comincia una nuova vita e chi muore vive eternamente”. Si terranno 2 colloqui, la Preghiera Di Mezzogiorno, Vespi, e L’Adorazione del Santissimo Sacramento. Seguira’ il pranzo e uno spazio di tempo per poter conoscere e far amicizia con gli altri partecipanti. L’offerta è di $20 a persona. ALBERI DI NATALE – La tradizione continua qui a Sant’Atanasio! Come ogni anno vi ricordiamo che durante l’Avvento il giardino intorno alla nostra chiesa sara’ preparato con dei belli alberi natalizi che potete dedicare in memoria di un vostro defunto. Gli alberi sono preparati con luci natalizie e accesi durante una cerimonia Sabato 18 Dicembre dopo la Messa delle 5:30pm. L’offerta e’ di $300 dollari.
