Threshold Bible Study:
The Holy Spirit and Spiritual Gifts
Five week Bible Study on the Holy Spirit
A day (1:00pm-2:15pm) and evening (7:00pm8:15pm) program will be offered at the Church Hall
on Thursdays, May 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, and 29th.
Sign up will be on the weekend of April 12th and
13th. You can also call the church office to register
for the study. There will be a free will offering to
cover the cost of the book.
The Holy Spirit, the Spirit of Jesus, dwells among us
and showers us with spiritual gifts. This Bible Study
uses key biblical texts to help readers discover how
to rekindle the fire of the Holy Spirit and allow
God's Spirit to manifest these divine graces and
spiritual gifts more richly within them. The study
shows how the same Spirit who inspired the
prophets and evangelists and who filled the life of
Jesus now blows within and among all God's people.
The Grotto Gift Shop, located at the Shrine of
Lourdes in Litchfield, Rte. 118, Litchfield, has a

Defending Our Religious Liberty
The Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, a law firm
representing organizations filing suits against the
federal health care mandate, including the Little
Sisters of the Poor, has stated, “The government has
lots of ways to deliver contraceptives to people. It
doesn’t need to force nuns to participate.”
If you haven’t done so already, please voice your
opposition to the mandate by calling President
Obama at the White House at 202-456-1111 or
Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen
Sebelius at 202-205-5445. Let them know that the
mandate is in violation of our First Amendment right
to religious freedom.
ITEMS FOR THE MISSIONS: If you have any of
the following items: rosaries, prayer cards, medals,
small religious books, Bibles, etc, to send to the
missions, please contact Judy at 860-354-7254.
You Can Change the Life of a Teen…
Dear Parishioners: The Steubenville East Retreat is
an amazing opportunity for a teen to grow in faith
and encounter God in a large community of teens
celebrating their Catholic Faith. There are
professional speakers and several opportunities to
receive God’s love in the Sacraments and Adoration
of the Blessed Sacrament. Please pray about
financially supporting our group that is traveling to
Rhode Island to attend this Retreat in July. We are
sending approximately 35 teens this year and we are
looking for support to offset the cost of the bus and
retreat. The total cost for one teen is $300 this year.
God Bless you for all the many ways you have
supported our endeavors already. We have several
fund raising activities planned in the coming
months, but we’ll need additional funds to meet our
goal. A donation in any amount to the Steubenville
Retreat Fund is greatly appreciated. Please make
checks payable to St. Francis and write
“Steubenville” on the memo line. You can put your
donations in the collection basket or mail them to
the Parish Office, 1 Elm Street, New Milford, CT
06776.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
