Dr. T Shawn Brewer, Pastor
What a great Sunday! God blessed us with several guests and we had
Kilye Winge come forward making public her decision, having asked Jesus
Christ to be Lord of her life and desiring to follow the Lord in believers
baptism. God blessed us with His presence and it was exciting to see God
move in our hearts as He leads us to be more like His One and Only Son,
Jesus Christ.
Sunday we concluded our six week look at where we are headed in our
ministry and the biblical perspectives that should govern everything that we
do. Sunday we looked at the last part of community as we looked at Acts
2:41-47 and the early New Testament Church.
Jesus Christ has just ascended and has given the Church the command
to go and make disciples and do that in His power, the power of the Holy
Spirit. For us to undertake that ministry of coming alongside those in our
community, both believers and non-believers who are being hard-pressed on
every side, we have to get a clear definition of what it means to be a part of
the community of the body of Christ. Luke outlines what that is in verses
41-42. To be a member of the community of faith, someone had to hear the
Word of God as the Word of God and respond to it. The individual response
to the Word of God was that they became devoted, committed to what God
said, and the response was immediate. Are you responding to God’s word
in your life? Join us as we hear God’s word applied to our daily lives.
Secondly, that response connected them to one another. They were
towards one another the same, literally of the same mind and they were
unified. The Gospel message changed the agenda of those who heard it.
Allow the Word of God, the Good News of Jesus Christ, to change your
agenda this week. Put what He wants ahead of what you want and see
how your life changes for the better in all that you do and undertake.
That commitment to what God is doing and saying and teaching us
through His word, the Bible, leads us in the area of worship and of telling
our story of what God is doing in our lives. Worship God this week, not just
on Sunday, not just on Wednesday, worship God this week as His word
becomes the basis of all that you are doing and living out before those who
need to see Jesus. If you get a chance, read Acts 2:46-47 and see how
when the church is together, that those looking at the church from the
outside in are attracted to what God is doing and they join in and are saved
and God gets the credit. May it all fall at the feet of Jesus this week. Take
up the challenge of Engage 24 and allow God to use you as you share your
story. I am glad I am your pastor.

MUSIC MINISTRY
Clint Ferguson sang a powerful song this last
Sunday morning in both services and did a great job
as he led us in worship. The text of the chorus is a
strong challenge to each of us if we consider what
Larry Wesson, Minister of Music
God truly desires of our lives for Him. Here’s the text
of the 1st verse and chorus:
“We have prayed and prayed concerning Your will, asking for guidance to see.
Larry
Musichow, we want to be all we can be.
And here
andWesson,
now , notMinister
knowingof
exactly
We will be Your Church, Your light and Your beacon, making Your vision our own.
We will be Your church, to do what You’ve asked, committed to all You’ve begun.
We will be Your church to the lost and the needy, reaching our arms out in love.
We will be Your church, the best we can be, completing the task, not looking back,
committed to all You’ve begun.”
I hope and pray that the words of this song reflect how each of us want to live our lives for the Lord. We each can pray and ask
the Lord to show us how we can truly be the witness and beacon for our Lord in our family, the workplace, and out in our community.
Singing as I go,
Larry
My child has been saved and baptized; is that it?

Vacation is always a good thing, but this one
was great! We were blessed enough to spend the

week or so in Destin, FL, and it was amazing

time with my family and be out of the routine for a little bit. The other thing that made it so

Thank you!
No, that’s not
it. Now your child needs to grow in his/her new relationship with Christ. There are many
adult Christians walking around with their “ticket to Heaven,” who have never grown past
infancy in their faith. You don’t want that to happen to your child.
The first thing a parent needs to consider when helping a child to grow spiritually is his or
her own relationship with Christ. Have you, as an adult, grown in the past year? Are you actively engaged in Bible Study? Do
you spend time each day in prayer? Do you gather with other believers regularly to worship God and exalt the Lord Jesus Christ?
It’s very important for our children and grandchildren to see spiritual growth in us.
A very helpful tool for your child after he has accepted Christ is I’m a Christian Now. This little book is an excellent and comprehensive four week study for helping children understand the decision they have made and what it means to live a Christian life.
Each week focuses on a new topic that includes daily study and application activities. Topics covered include:
o Baptism
o The Lord’s Supper
o Being a church member
o Following God through one’s actions
o Developing a quiet time
This book can be purchased at any LifeWay store or online at www.lifeway.com.
