CANINE PATIENTS AND STRESS –
what you can expect to
happen and how to avoid it
Speaker - Claire Hargrave
The workshop will enable the veterinary nurse to:
• Understand why all canine patients can be expected to
experience stress in the veterinary environment
• Understand how to recognise signs of stress and the likely
outcome of the condition
• Understand how to prevent dogs developing stress in the
practice environment
• Understand how to manage stress in the waiting room,
consulting room and ward area
• Understand the role of environmental enrichment in reducing
stress in the
hospitalised canine and how this can be
provided
• Understand the role of pheromones in reducing stress
• Provide advice to owners on using pheromones as part of a
stress reduction
strategy within the home and during travel to
the practice.
FELINE PATIENTS AND STRESS
Speaker - Sarah Ellis
This workshop will enable the veterinary nurse to:
• Identify stress in the cat in the hospital environment
• Identify causes of stress in the hospitalised feline patient
• Understand how to implement a plan for reducing stress in
the hospitalised patient
• Understand the role that pheromones play in the reduction of
stress in cats.

following conditions:
1 Returning the signed registration form constitutes a firm booking.
2 The Company reserves the right to cancel a booking if payment
is not made six weeks prior to the conference taking place. Any
outstanding payment becomes the responsibility of the signatory
made on the reservation form
3 Written cancellations received six weeks prior to the conference
will be accepted and a refund less a 10% administration fee
will be made. After this date, no refunds can be given. Verbal
cancellations will not be accepted. If written cancellation is not
received six weeks prior to the conference full payment will still
be due irrespective of whether the delegate attends the conference.
Substitute delegates are welcome at any time.
4 MA Healthcare Ltd reserves the right to make changes to the
speakers and programmes without prior notice. Speakers

5 MA Healthcare Ltd shall not have any liability, except for death or
personal injury caused by its negligence, beyond the value of the
